Position Overview
The Head of Department (AI & ML) will provide academic, administrative, research, and industry leadership for the AI & ML department. The role involves curriculum development, faculty management, research promotion, accreditation compliance, industry collaborations, and student outcomes (placements, projects, innovation).
The HOD will play a key role in building the department into a center of excellence in AI, Data Science, and Emerging Technologies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement AI & ML curriculum as per AICTE/University norms.
- Introduce emerging areas such as Generative AI, Deep Learning, NLP, Computer Vision, Robotics, and AI Ethics.
- Ensure outcome-based education (OBE) framework implementation.
- Monitor academic delivery, lesson plans, and course outcomes.
- Establish AI research labs and centers of excellence.
- Promote interdisciplinary projects and hackathons.
- Drive research publications in Scopus/SCI journals.
- Encourage student innovation, startups, and incubation.
- Build partnerships with AI companies and tech organizations.
- Facilitate internships, live projects, and industry certifications.
- Invite industry experts for guest lectures and workshops.
- Align curriculum with industry demands.
- Monitor student academic progress and mentoring.
- Coordinate with the placement cell for AI-related job roles.
- Organize coding competitions, AI challenges, and tech events.
- Ensure NBA/NAAC/AICTE compliance documentation.
- Prepare reports for audits and inspections.
- Maintain department records and KPIs.
Qualifications & Eligibility
- Ph.D. in Computer Science / AI / ML / Data Science (Preferred as per AICTE norms).
- Minimum 1015 years of academic/industry experience.
- Prior experience as HOD/Professor/Associate Professor preferred.
- Strong research profile with publications in reputed journals.
- Experience in handling accreditation processes (NBA/NAAC).
- Industry exposure in AI/ML projects will be an added advantage.
