(Supporting a Confidential Agentic AI Startup)
Why This RoleWe are supporting a high-growth Agentic AI startup in hiring a Head of Cyber Security / Founding Security Engineer to design, build, and own the company's cyber security vision from the ground up.
This is a founding-level leadership role where you will define security strategy in a technically complex and highly regulated environment, while working closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams. You will be a security evangelist, embedding strong security principles across systems, teams, and culture.
You will also build and mentor a team of security specialists, taking ownership of both the technical foundation and the long-term security maturity of the organization.
What You'll Do- Define and execute the end-to-end cyber security strategy for an Agentic AI platform
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing cyber security team
- Drive secure-by-design principles across product, engineering, and infrastructure
- Act as the primary owner for security posture, audits, and incident response
- Partner with leadership on security risk, compliance, and long-term roadmap
Key Focus Areas- Application & API Security secure SDLC, design reviews, security reviews
- DevSecOps & Security Automation automated testing, CI/CD security controls
- Penetration Testing & Vulnerability Management internal/external testing, investigations
- Threat Modelling & Incident Response
- Internal & External Security Communications practices, audits, and incidents
What We're Looking For- A hands-on technical leader comfortable getting deeply involved when required
- Strong technical foundation across:
- Networks, Firewalls, Security Architecture
- Vulnerability Management, SIEM, EDR
- Incident Response, Threat Modelling, Penetration Testing
- Extensive experience in Application & API Security, OWASP, Database Security, Red/Blue teaming
- Advanced cloud security expertise (AWS, Oracle Cloud preferred)
- Experience leading teams in Agile, fast-moving startup or scale-up environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
Bonus- Experience building a security function from scratch, ideally in a startup or AI-driven organization
Qualifications- BE / MS / PhD in Computer Security or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive cyber security experience
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCP (or equivalent)
- Proven technical leadership and people-management experience
