What Is Josh Talks AI
Josh Talks AI works with frontier and foundation-model labs (big tech) to help them build better voice AI for India.
India is not a single language, accent, or speaking style. Voice AI that works in India must handle:
Multiple languages and scripts
Heavy code-switching
Accents, dialects, and socio-linguistic variation
Real conversational speech, not scripted text
Josh Talks AI builds the data, benchmarks, and evaluation infrastructure that these labs need to train, test, and improve speech and voice models for real Indian usage.
In simple terms, we build the tools that serious AI labs need to build great voice models for India.
This includes large-scale conversational datasets, research-grade benchmarks, and evaluation systems that surface where models actually fail not just where they demo well.
Why This Role Exists
This role exists to drive revenue by shaping belief.
In frontier AI, revenue does not scale simply because data exists. It scales when the market believes three things:
Certain languages are unavoidable
Serious data is expensive for a reason
Language data is infrastructure, not a one-time purchase
Today, global AI labs under-invest in Indian languages not because they don't care, but because the system around them does not force better decisions.
Your job is to change that system.
The Mandate
You are accountable for moving the AI ecosystem toward three outcomes:
1. More Indian languages become first-order priorities leading frontier AI labs - discussed seriously, evaluated rigorously, and funded meaningfully.
2. Research-grade audio and transcription data becomes unambiguously premium - priced higher, defended intellectually, and trusted institutionally.
3. Large, repeat data investments - millions of hours per language - become normal - not exceptional.
If these move, revenue follows.
What You Will Be Doing (In Practice)
Owning the external narrative of Josh Talks AI: defining how we describe ourselves, what we stand for, and how our work is understood across our website, landing pages, decks, and public-facing materials.
Establishing a clear, consistent brand voice for Josh Talks AI ensuring that our positioning, language, and tone are coherent across LinkedIn, X, long-form writing, events, and research releases.
Driving thought leadership personally and institutionally: deciding what we should be saying publicly, where we should say it, and why and translating complex work on speech, voice AI, and evaluation into clear, credible public writing.
You will personally write and edit a meaningful share of our most important public-facing content.
Actively managing and shaping our presence on platforms like LinkedIn and X: not just posting updates, but building a sustained point of view that reaches researchers, AI practitioners, policymakers, and decision-makers who matter.
Working with research and data teams to surface insights from our datasets, benchmarks, and evaluations and deciding how those insights should be communicated publicly and when.
Planning and executing major external moments: launches, benchmark releases, dataset announcements, research publications, and collaborations ensuring each one reinforces our long-term positioning rather than feeling transactional.
Owning our participation in conferences and forums (e.g. Interspeech and similar venues): deciding which conferences matter, what role we should play there, whether we should submit papers, host sessions, run demos, or publish commentary and how each appearance ladders up to our goals.
Designing engagement-led initiatives that invite the community to interact with our work such as evaluations, comparisons, or public-facing experiments and turning participation into credibility.
Coordinating selectively with academics, institutions, and public leaders to ensure Indian languages, speech diversity, and real-world usage are represented thoughtfully and responsibly in global AI conversations.
Acting as the internal owner of communications quality and judgment: reviewing messaging, saying no to incoherent or short-term ideas, and maintaining a high bar for clarity, seriousness, and consistency.
Thinking continuously about what should exist what content, research, collaborations, events, or narratives are missing today that would make Josh Talks AI clearer, stronger, and more credible tomorrow.
This role combines strategy, execution, and taste. You will be thinking daily about positioning, writing, releases, platforms, and engagement while also shaping longer-term credibility and influence.
Who This Role Is Likely Right For
This role is designed for people who are already doing serious work - but feel under-leveraged.
You might be a strong fit if you are currently:
In a Founder's Office or strategy role at a high-quality startup, influencing decisions without full ownership
Working in or adjacent to a policy team, AI research lab, or research operations role, frustrated that good research doesn't translate into real-world prioritization
An early-career communications or strategy professional who has already delivered impact far beyond your title, but lacks a platform worthy of your ambition
At a think-tank, policy organization, or serious journalism role, where your work shapes conversations but doesn't compound into execution
If you are optimizing primarily for brand building, reach, or social growth, this role will not be a fit.
If you want a polished communications career, this is not the role. If you want to shape how an industry behaves, it might be.
The Honest Version
If you want to help shape how big tech building AI understands and invests in India and are comfortable doing so with seriousness, restraint, and ambition, this role is worth your time.
