To lead this journey, we're looking for an exceptional engineering leader who can own both the AI Platform and the AI Applications built on top of it.

You will define and build the AI Operating System for Pocket FM; a unified platform that powers every AI capability across the company while simultaneously leading the development of creator-facing and internal AI products.

What You'll Own

Build the AI Platform

Architect and scale the foundational AI platform that powers every AI capability across Pocket FM. This includes:

• Model orchestration and routing
• Prompt management and evaluation frameworks
• Fine-tuning and training workflows
• Access controls and governance
• Model observability and monitoring
• AI service APIs consumed across product teams

Your goal is to create a platform that allows teams to rapidly build AI-powered experiences without reinventing infrastructure.

Build AI-Powered Applications

Lead engineering efforts behind a suite of AI products that transform how content is created and distributed.

Examples include:

• Automated promotional video generation
• AI-powered text and content creation
• Multilingual story adaptation
• Synthetic voice and TTS generation
• Internal creator productivity tools
• Future AI-native storytelling experiences

Create a Vendor-Agnostic AI Architecture

Build a flexible AI abstraction layer that allows Pocket FM to seamlessly leverage and switch between:

• OpenAI
• Anthropic
• Google
• ElevenLabs
• Open-source models
• Fine-tuned internal models

Application teams should be able to innovate without being tightly coupled to any individual foundation model provider.

Drive AI Economics at Scale

Treat compute efficiency and token economics as first-class engineering problems.

Own:

• Cost visibility
• Model selection strategies
• Latency optimisation
• Intelligent caching
• Rate limiting
• GPU and cloud efficiency

You will help define the balance between product quality, speed, and economics at scale.

Build a World-Class Engineering Organisation

Hire, mentor, and scale a high-performing team spanning:

• AI Engineering
• Platform Engineering
• Data & ML Infrastructure
• Product Engineering

Create an engineering culture that combines innovation, execution excellence, and long-term platform thinking.

What We're Looking For

Strong Engineering Leadership

You have led teams and organisations through periods of rapid growth and have a track record of building scalable, high-impact technology products.

Typically, this may translate to:

• 12+ years of engineering experience
• Experience leading senior engineers and engineering managers
• Ownership of large-scale systems and platforms

Deep Platform Thinking

You naturally convert isolated feature requests into reusable platform capabilities.

You have experience building and scaling:

• AI Platforms
• ML Platforms
• Data Platforms
• Developer Platforms
• Large-scale Distributed Systems

Production AI Experience

You have successfully shipped AI-powered products into production and understand the realities of:

• LLM applications
• Multi-modal systems
• AI reliability
• Evaluation frameworks

Systems and Architecture Excellence

You enjoy solving hard engineering problems involving:
