We are looking for a strong Head – Manufacturing Excellence for our Durgapur plant.
Role Summary
The role will drive productivity improvement, process discipline, cost optimization, maintenance reliability, quality improvement, and operational excellence initiatives across manufacturing operations.
The ideal candidate should be a hands-on manufacturing improvement leader who can work closely with plant leadership, production, maintenance, quality, safety, and digital teams to build a more efficient, system-driven, and performance-focused plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive manufacturing excellence initiatives across the Durgapur plant.
- Improve productivity, yield, equipment uptime, process discipline, and resource utilization.
- Identify and execute cost-saving projects across power, fuel, consumables, manpower, maintenance, wastage, and inventory.
- Strengthen preventive maintenance, breakdown analysis, root cause analysis, and reliability improvement.
- Improve SOP adherence, shop-floor discipline, 5S, Lean, TPM, Kaizen, and continuous improvement practices.
- Work with production, maintenance, quality, stores, dispatch, safety, and HR teams to improve plant performance.
- Build KPI review systems for output, downtime, yield, quality, safety, productivity, cost, and maintenance.
- Support implementation of SAP/ERP, digital dashboards, automation, Industry 4.0, and data-driven decision-making.
- Lead structured improvement projects with clear targets, timelines, ownership, and measurable outcomes.
- Train and guide plant teams on operational excellence tools, problem-solving, and execution discipline.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 12–20 years of experience in manufacturing excellence, operational excellence, plant operations, process improvement, or productivity improvement.
- Prior experience in steel, metals, cement, heavy engineering, manufacturing, or process industries preferred.
- Experience in rolling mills, billets, TMT/rebar, SMS, or related steel manufacturing environments will be an advantage.
- Strong understanding of production, maintenance, quality, safety, cost control, yield, downtime, and plant KPIs.
- Hands-on experience with Lean, TPM, 5S, Kaizen, root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
- Exposure to SAP/ERP, digital dashboards, automation, Industry 4.0, or manufacturing analytics will be preferred.
- Strong execution mindset with the ability to work on the shop floor and drive measurable improvements.
