JOB PURPOSE
Strategic HR leader partnering with R&D leadership to align people strategy with business priorities, ensuring optimal workforce planning, talent acquisition, and capability development to drive innovation and productivity. Responsible for end-to-end HR delivery across workforce planning, budgeting, talent management, learning & development, employee engagement, governance, and compliance. Drives execution of corporate HR initiatives within the R&D function while customizing interventions to meet technical and functional workforce needs.
Acts as a strategic advisor to senior management and develops a strong HR team to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and sustainable talent growth within the R&D organization.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
R&D Level HR planning and review
- Participate in the business strategy and planning meetings of the R&D to understand business priorities and derive imperatives for the HR function.
- Work with the Business R&D Heads and prepare Yearly budgets. Monitor budgets and variances every month.
- Participate and contribute to HR reviews conducted at various levels, with Business & R&D teams and with Head HRBP- India Business
- Collaborate with senior management to align HR initiatives with R&D objectives and thereby anticipate future HR needs to prepare annual HR Plan.
- Conduct regular workforce planning assessments to ensure optimal resource allocation and staffing levels.
Talent Acquisition
- Drive the recruitment and selection process for hiring top talent in alignment with the center's technical and functional requirements at mid and junior levels.
- Work closely with R&D managers to understand replacement / New positions and identify and attract top talent with specialized skills.
- Recruitment marketing through social media posts to garner interest of passive candidates. Work closely with Corp TA team on all marketing initiatives.
- Promote and encourage IJPs to ensure career opportunities for internal talent within R&D based on employee aspirations / Neev tracker.
- Strategize hiring through best-in-class schools and universities. Collaborate on learn and earn training schemes.
- Implement robust onboarding programs to facilitate smooth integration of new hires into the organization.
Talent Management
- Aligns talent strategy to R&D roadmap and innovation. Manage deployment of all talent management related corporate initiatives; Introduce HR initiatives relevant to R&D space and socialize at multiple levels for implementation success, e.g. Skill and competency framework, Hi-PoTs identification.
- Lead and execute various leadership and behavioural training programs, such as, both behavioural and technical, Train the Trainer (TTT) for foundation and advance competencies; Ensure effective deployment of central programs through nominations, high attendance, etc. and follow through on the IDPs / Post learning projects.
- At the R&D level, prepare and implement the GET/PGET progression plan; Ensure timely review of GET/PGET; Work with corporate HR team and provide input on salary framework, sourcing, stipends, etc.
- Support assessment and evaluation of KEY role holders to determine skill and competency gap assessment and share inputs with corporate HR for design of training programs.
- Facilitate retention programs, career development opportunities and succession planning initiatives (NEEV) to nurture talent within the organization.
- Provide guidance to R&D leaders on setting performance expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and offering feedback to employees.
Learning & Development
- Strategize employee skill retention and upgradation process with a detailed approach and deployment plan. Co-od with external vendors / corporate team to digitize the skill mapping, Skill assessment and upgradation process. Maintain a current repository of employee skill and assessment.
- Prepare the broader training and development SPECIFIC plan for R&D, including aspects such as training programs budgets, IDPs from PMS, TNI, calendar preparation, etc. Work with Corp TD team and Head HRBP- India Business or external vendor for execution.
- Review and finalize the design and content of technical training programs designed at R&D level in consultation with COC leads and SMEs.
Employee Relations and Engagement
- Develop strategy pertaining to employee relations for R&D to develop & execute strategies to foster a positive work culture that promotes employee satisfaction, engagement, and massive retention.
- Address employee concerns and grievances through effective communication channels and conflict resolution strategies.
- Suggest policies / benefits and market intelligence from time to time to Corporate HR to help enhance EE.
- Implement employee recognition programs in line with Corporate HR guidelines to celebrate achievements and boost employee morale.
- Utilize HR data and analytics to identify trends and make data-driven recommendations for improving R&D performance and employee engagement.
Governance HR Compliance and Risk Management
- Respond to queries and data requests on HR processes, systems, and practices for customers audits; Ensure compliance and adherence with contractors.
- Mitigate HR-related risks by implementing robust policies and procedures related to employment law, and data privacy in close consultation with Corporate HR guidelines.
- Coordinate to provide data, information and respond to queries for various internal / external statutory auditors.
- Collate and report on non-compliance / non-adherence and determine action plan to close open points/ red flags / Audit NCs to ensure compliance.
Team Development
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the HR team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Develop the skills and capabilities of HR staff through training and professional development opportunities.
- Act as a strategic advisor to senior management on HR-related matters, providing insights and recommendations to drive organizational success.
- Participate in recruitment process to identify the right talent across positions within the function.
- Establish individual performance expectations and regularly review individual performance of the team.
- Identify and create development opportunities for team members to enhance functional knowledge.
OD PMS and C&B
- Articulate to employees the rationale behind any change in yearly programs of OD and C&B clearly to enable smooth change management.
- Ensure timely submission of Yearly C&B increment sheets and role change recommendations within budgets to Corp. Similarly responsible to adhere to OD norms on PMS within timelines and guidelines.
- Designs org structures, succession pipelines, and leadership development interventions as per business strategy
Team Development
- Participate in recruitment process to identify the right talent across positions within the function

- Identify and create development opportunities for team members to enhance functional knowledge
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION
- Minimum Qualification required: MBA (HR) - Full-time degree
- Other Qualification: BE/B.Tech (Preferred / Desirable)
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 15 years of strong experience in Human Resources with an Automotive / Auto-Component R&D / Engineering / Technology Centers (Preferred)
- Experience of Human Resources function and its disciplines in a R&D / Engineering set- up, preferably in automotive / manufacturing sector
- Strong understanding of functioning of a R&D / Technology Center in an Automotive environment
- Having HR Business Partner experience in corporate and Technology space is preferable
REPORTING
The position works along with the CTO - India Business & reports to the Head HRBP- India Business and has Team reporting to it down the line.
RELOCATION
Outstation candidates will have to relocate to PUNE with family & will be eligible to avail the Relocation Policy benefits.
