Head Engineering - Self Loading Mixer

Key responsibilities

• Own technical requirements and the existing machine design; improve performance, reliability, safety and serviceability through controlled engineering changes.
• Control the engineering BOM, specifications, drawings, software configuration and design cost; maintain a verified baseline for every released machine and variant.
• Lead mechanical, electrical/controls, powertrain/hydraulics, analysis and validation engineers; chair design reviews and make system-level cost, performance and reliability trade-offs.
• Lead continuous improvement from field failures, customer and service feedback; drive root-cause closure, VA/VE and design-to-cost initiatives with measurable savings.
• Qualify alternate components and sources from the engineering side through specifications, fit/function assessment and validation; partner with Operations on manufacturability and supplier readiness.
• Build the portfolio roadmap for additional SLM size classes and variants; define customer requirements, machine architecture and development priorities with the business unit.
• Evaluate alternative power sources and drivetrain strategies, including technical feasibility, duty-cycle performance, cost, service implications and validation needs.
• Maintain engineering project risks, mitigations and escalations; manage priorities, external specialists and cost, quality and schedule commitments.
• Own prototype and production validation, homologation and machine certification; maintain knowledge of applicable regulations and required technical evidence.
• Maintain alignment with parent organisations in Germany and in China on Engineering related activities.

Essential qualifications and experience

• Degree in mechanical, automotive, mechatronics or related engineering.
• Experience integrating engine, driveline, hydraulics, structures and controls on a complete mobile machine.
• Proven ownership of design cost, VA/VE, field-driven product improvement, alternate-source validation and controlled design release.
• Working knowledge of applicable Indian regulations and standards for SLMs or comparable mobile construction equipment, with direct experience planning and securing homologation or machine certification.

Preferred experience

• Direct self-loading mixer, concrete equipment or mixer truck experience.
• Experience developing new product variants or size classes and evaluating alternative powertrain architectures; manufacturing localisation in India.
