Role Description The Head - Employee Transport will lead the end-to-end management of employee commute operations for client organizations, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective transport services. This full-time, on-site role is based in Chennai and involves overseeing fleet planning, route optimization, vendor management, and daily coordination with internal stakeholders and external partners. The role includes monitoring service performance, managing operational risks, and implementing best practices for compliance, safety, and employee experience. The Head - Employee Transport will analyze data to drive process improvements, optimize costs, and support technology implementation across transport operations. This position will also manage and mentor the transport operations team, handle escalations, and contribute to strategic planning for scalable, sustainable mobility solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong operational management skills, including large-scale transport operations oversight, route planning, fleet utilization, and shift-based scheduling.
- Experience in vendor and partner management, including contract negotiation, performance monitoring, and relationship management with transport providers.
- Proficiency in using transport management systems, GPS/telematics tools, and basic data analytics to monitor KPIs, service quality, and cost efficiency.
- Proven people leadership skills, including team management, stakeholder communication, conflict resolution, and cross-functional coordination.
- Knowledge of safety, security, and compliance standards related to employee transportation, including regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Ability to design and improve processes, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and implement standardized operating procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Logistics, Transport Management, or a related field; a postgraduate degree or relevant certification is an advantage.
- Prior experience in employee transport, corporate mobility, facilities management, or logistics within large or multi-shift organizations is highly desirable.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, on-site environment in Chennai, with flexibility to handle critical issues and escalations outside standard hours when needed.
