Are you right for this role
Must-Have Attributes
- 4+ years of experience in analytics or decision sciences, ideally at a data analytics firm
- like Mu Sigma, Fractal, Tiger Analytics,
- or an in-house analytics function at a high-growth startup
- Proven ability to frame ambiguous business problems into structured analytical questions and actionable frameworks
- Strong proficiency in SQL, complex queries, data extraction, and analytical modelling
- Proficient in Python - for data analysis, statistical modelling and automation
- Experience building and interpreting dashboards and BI reports, Tableau, Looker, Metabase or equivalent
- Strong grasp of statistics and probability, comfortable with hypothesis testing, regression, and cohort analysis
- Experience translating data insights into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders and leadership
- Based in/willing to relocate to Mumbai
- Available to start in less than 45 days
Good-to-Have Attributes
- Experience in ecommerce, D2C, fintech or lending, understanding of brand performance metrics, GMV, retention, and unit economics
- Exposure to credit analytics or risk modelling, scorecards, underwriting data, or default prediction
- Experience working with GST data, bank statement data or ITR for financial analysis
- Familiarity with ClickHouse or other OLAP databases for large-scale analytical workloads
- Has built or contributed to a data products roadmap, not just reporting, but insight products used across the business
- Experience managing & mentoring a small analytics team
- Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Computer Science
Overview of the Job
This is a high-ownership role at the core of Merito's insight layer. You will
- Own Merito's analytics function end-to-end, from defining the right questions to delivering answers that move the business
- Build frameworks to measure and improve the performance of D2C brands on the platform, across growth, retention, and financial health
- Work closely with the credit and product teams to develop and refine the Merito Score using data-driven models
- Partner with engineering to ensure clean, reliable, and well-structured data infrastructure that supports analytical work
- Create dashboards and reporting systems that give leadership and partners real-time visibility into key metrics
- Proactively surface insights that influence product, lending, and GTM strategy
