About the role
Lenskart is building the most advanced omnichannel vision care ecosystem in the world. As Head – Optometry & Clinical Excellence, you will own the clinical quality, professional standards, and optometry capability agenda across a fast-growing, pan-India network of stores and eyecare professionals - setting the frameworks others build on, not just running programs against someone else's.
What you'll own
- Design and own the optometry excellence framework - clinical protocols, refraction quality, and patient experience standards across every Lenskart touchpoint
- Lead a team of regional optometry trainers and clinical coordinators, with full accountability for their coaching, development, and performance
- Run end-to-end training, certification, and continuous professional development for the optometry workforce at scale
- Build and govern data-driven dashboards to track clinical KPIs and outcomes; drive audits and quality reviews across the store network
- Identify workforce skill gaps and design targeted upskilling - e-learning, blended formats, and hands-on clinical workshops
- Partner with academic institutions and professional bodies (COI, IOIA) to benchmark and elevate clinical practice
- Work with Product, Technology, and Retail Ops to embed clinical standards into store workflows and digital tools
- Represent Lenskart externally - conferences, academic tie-ups, and industry forums - as the face of its optometry practice
Continuous improvement charters you'll drive
- This role carries direct ownership of the structured initiatives that raise clinical quality, efficiency, and professional standards network-wide.
Refraction accuracy programme
- Set baseline metrics, run periodic audits, and lead root-cause cycles to systematically lift refraction accuracy scores across the network.
Competency certification ladder
- Design and iterate a tiered competency framework for optometrists - entry-level through advanced practitioner - with structured assessments and recognition pathways.
Eye exam NPS improvement
- Use patient feedback data to find experience gaps, co-design SOPs with store teams, and track NPS movement at the clinical touchpoint.
Clinical SOP review cycle
- Lead quarterly reviews and updates of all clinical SOPs, incorporating field learnings, technology shifts, and evolving clinical evidence.
Digital refraction tool adoption
- Drive rollout and adoption of autorefractors, digital phoropters, and tech-assisted exam tools, with training, compliance tracking, and outcome measurement.
Training impact measurement
- Build Kirkpatrick-aligned evaluation frameworks that link learning outcomes directly to on-floor clinical performance.
What you bring
- B.Optom / M.Optom from a recognised university; advanced certification in clinical optometry or healthcare management is a plus
- 10+ years in the optometry domain with clear progression into a senior or leadership role
- Prior experience in at least one of: an optometry/eyecare operations management role, Assistant Professor or above at an optometry institution, or a senior optometry training/L&D role
- Deep clinical grounding in refraction, contact lens practice, binocular vision, and low vision; familiarity with quality systems and clinical audits preferred
- Strong program and portfolio management skills - able to plan, execute, and track large initiatives across geographies
- Excellent communication across leadership, academic, and store-floor audiences
- Data fluency - able to read clinical and operational metrics and turn them into action
- Experience designing curricula or structured learning journeys; instructional design knowledge is a plus
- Hands-on experience with Lean, PDCA, Six Sigma, or equivalent CI methodologies
- Entrepreneurial mindset - comfortable building processes from the ground up in a fast-moving environment
