About The Gig

We are looking forward to hiring a Battery Management System (BMS) Hardware Design Engineer for our Embedded Hardware Development. This role offers you the opportunity to design and develop advanced BMS hardware for electric vehicles, enhance your technical depth in automotive electronics, and deliver innovation and outstanding results in a bold, vibrant, friendly, open, lively, and ambitious work environment.

What You'll Do

  • Design and develop Battery Management System (BMS) hardware platforms for EV battery packs, including cell monitoring, protection, sensing, and control circuits
  • Work on MCU/AFE-based BMS architectures covering cell voltage measurement, current sensing, temperature sensing, balancing, and protection
  • Carry out benchmarking of BMS hardware solutions to evaluate performance, safety, reliability, cost, efficiency, serviceability, and lifecycle aspects
  • Define and implement interfaces and interconnects such as CAN, SPI, I2C, UART, GPIO, and analog sensing paths to meet functional requirements
  • Perform design calculations and analyses including WCA, tolerance analysis, power dissipation, derating, and thermal analysis for BMS hardware
  • Collaborate with firmware and algorithm teams to define protection logic, state machines, fault handling, diagnostics, and communication requirements
  • Work closely with mechanical, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality teams to ensure compliance with DFx, xFMEA, cost targets, and manufacturability
  • Participate in design reviews, identify risks, and resolve technical issues using structured root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Carry out board bring-up, EVT/DVT testing, debugging, and performance optimization of BMS hardware.
  • Support battery pack-level integration and validation testing, including cell-level, module-level, and pack-level tests
  • Prepare, review, and present technical documentation including:

Concept & feasibility reports

Schematic and PCB design documents

WCA, tolerance & derating reports

xFMEA and safety analysis

Prototype build & test reports

DFx and assembly guidelines

Compliance and validation reports

  • Participate in program planning, design standardization, and continuous improvement discussions to minimize execution and delivery risks
  • Deliver BMS hardware designs to manufacturing meeting target cost, quality, and safety requirements
  • Perform, review, and document detailed electrical, thermal, and tolerance analyses on BMS hardware designs
  • Demonstrate compliance of BMS hardware with functional safety, reliability, and manufacturability requirements
  • Correlate design calculations and simulations with lab and vehicle-level test results
  • Execute RCA and CAPA for issues observed during EVT, DVT, validation, production, or field usage
  • Support regulatory, safety, and pre-compliance testing activities related to battery systems
  • Design, review, and release schematics and PCB layouts for BMS hardware platforms

You Must Have

  • B.Tech / M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 23 years of experience in Battery Management System (BMS) hardware design or embedded power electronics for EV/automotive applications
  • Strong understanding of Lithium-ion battery systems, cell characteristics, protection mechanisms, and failure modes.
  • Hands-on experience with Battery Monitoring AFEs (e.g., TI, ADI, NXP, Renesas or equivalent)
  • Good knowledge of MCU architectures (16/32-bit) and their peripherals such as ADC, PWM, timers, GPIO, and watchdogs.
  • Strong knowledge of current sensing techniques (shunt, Hall-effect), voltage sensing, and temperature sensing (NTC/PTC)
  • Experience with serial communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C, UART
  • Exposure to cell balancing circuits (passive/active) and protection elements (MOSFETs, fuses, contactors)
  • Working knowledge of schematic capture, PCB layout review, and power/signal integrity basics.
  • Familiarity with thermal management, EMI/EMC concepts, and automotive design practices.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and protocol analyzers.
  • Exposure to automotive standards and practices (ISO 26262 awareness, DFMEA/xFMEA, derating guidelines) is a plus.
  • Good problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
  • A strong passion for EVs, battery technology, and automotive electronics, with an excellent team spirit.
