Job Description
Role Summary
GridCrest Technologies is hiring a Hardware Design Engineer for the TDC team in Mysore. This position requires 4–6 years of experience in electronic product design, with strong exposure to analog and digital circuit design, microcontroller-based hardware, embedded systems, IoT devices, and energy metering products. The role covers hardware design, development, prototyping, debugging, validation, compliance support, documentation, and cross-functional product integration.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop analog and digital hardware circuits for electronic products, energy meters, embedded systems, and IoT-enabled devices.
- Handle schematic design, component selection, design calculations, BOM inputs, and PCB layout reviews in coordination with PCB designers.
- Develop microcontroller-based hardware using communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, and related board-level interfaces.
- Design and validate power supply circuits including SMPS, LDO, DC-DC converters, protection circuits, sensing circuits, and signal-conditioning stages.
- Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, functional testing, design verification, validation, and reliability checks using lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and power measurement tools.
- Support EMI/EMC, ESD, safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance testing; implement improvements based on test observations.
- Work with firmware, mechanical, QA, sourcing, manufacturing, and field-support teams to ensure product integration, manufacturability, and production readiness.
- Analyze field failures and production issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain hardware documentation including schematics, design notes, BOMs, test plans, validation reports, compliance records, and design review inputs.
Mandatory Skills
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience in microcontroller-based hardware and embedded product development.
- Knowledge of UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, and other board-level communication interfaces.
- Experience in power supply design including SMPS, LDOs, DC-DC converters, protection circuits, and power budgeting.
- Familiarity with PCB design tools such as Altium, OrCAD, KiCad, Eagle, or equivalent platforms.
- Proficiency with debugging and test instruments including oscilloscope, logic analyzer, DMM, and power measurement tools.
- Understanding of EMI/EMC design practices, ESD protection, grounding, isolation, filtering, creepage/clearance, and noise reduction.
Preferred / Added Advantage
- Experience in energy metering, smart metering, utility electronics, industrial embedded products, or IoT hardware will be an added advantage.
- Exposure to metering ICs, current/voltage sensing, calibration, product compliance, DFM/DFT, component lifecycle management, alternate component evaluation, and production support is preferred.
Candidate Profile
- 4–6 years of relevant experience in electronic product design and hardware development.
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Embedded Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Ability to work independently on hardware modules while coordinating with cross-functional teams in a product development environment.
