About Us
DATOMS is an IoT software platform that streamlines asset management and operations for equipment manufacturers, leasing and rental companies, and enterprises utilising machine learning, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things. Our scalable solution can be customized to meet the unique needs of each client and is trusted by top companies around the globe.
We are looking for passionate problem solvers who are interested to create new technology from scratch. Hardware is Hard, but we believe dedication and craving for learning new things will help solving some of the biggest problems. The roles also demand fair understanding in dealing with various micro-processor and controllers. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Bengaluru.
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hardware Circuit Designer with a passion for creating robust and efficient embedded systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, developing, and testing complex circuits for IoT and wireless communication devices. You will be a key member of our hardware engineering team, responsible for the entire lifecycle of our products, from initial concept and prototyping to mass production and maintenance. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are an expert in embedded hardware, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Circuit Design & Development: Design, simulate, and develop complex, high-speed, mixed-signal circuits for our next-generation embedded systems, with a focus on ESP32-based devices and systems integrating Quecetel modems (e.g., EC200U, SC206).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with firmware, software, and mechanical engineering teams to define requirements and ensure seamless system integration.
- Power Management: Architect and design efficient and reliable power supply circuits for low-power and battery-operated embedded systems, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
- PCB Layout & Design: Lead the schematic capture and PCB layout process. Perform DFM (Design for Manufacturability), DFA (Design for Assembly), and DFT (Design for Testability) analysis on Gerber files to ensure high-yield production and robust testing.
- Board Bring-up & Testing: Spearhead the board bring-up process for new hardware. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for rapid testing, functional validation, and system-level verification.
- Debugging & Diagnostics: Systematically diagnose, root cause, and resolve complex hardware issues in embedded circuits, from component-level to system-level problems, both in development and in the field.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all hardware designs meet relevant industry standards and compliance requirements (e.g., FCC, CE, EMI/EMC). Prepare and manage documentation for certification processes.
- Component & BOM Management: Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM), including component selection, sourcing, second-sourcing, and lifecycle management to mitigate supply chain risks.
- Prototyping & Iteration: Rapidly prototype new designs and iterate based on testing feedback to meet project goals and deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience working with microcontrollers and associated peripherals.
- Proficiency in EDA tools for schematic capture, PCB layout, and analysis (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence OrCAD/Allegro, Mentor Graphics PADS, KiCad, Eagle).
- In-depth knowledge of Gerber file generation and DFM/DFA/DFT analysis.
- Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC principles.
- Deep understanding of common communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB, I2S, Modbus, and CAN bus.
- Experience with hardware compliance and certification processes.
- Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills with standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers).
- Knowledge of thermal management techniques for electronic components and systems.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a relevant field..
- Experience in a fast-paced startup or agile development environment.
