Role & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care in obstetrics and gynaecology, including OPD, IPD, and emergency services.
- Assist and independently manage normal and high-risk deliveries, including antenatal and postnatal care.
- Perform and assist in gynaecological procedures and surgeries (minor & major) under consultant supervision.
- Handle emergency cases such as ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages, PPH, and other obstetric complications.
- Conduct clinical examinations, diagnosis, and treatment planning for gynaecological conditions.
- Monitor and manage labour room patients, ensuring timely interventions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation.
- Coordinate with consultants, nursing staff, and other departments for holistic patient care.
- Participate in ward rounds, case discussions, and clinical audits.
- Provide patient counselling regarding treatment plans, procedures, and preventive care.
- Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, infection control, and quality standards.
- Assist in teaching and training of junior doctors, interns, and nursing staff.
- Participate in on-call duties and rotational shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Support hospital initiatives, including NABH/JCI accreditation standards.
Qualifications
- MBBS with MD/MS/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Valid State Medical Council registration (KMC or equivalent)
- 03 years of experience post PG (freshers can be considered)
- Experience in handling labour room and emergency cases preferred
- Fellowship in areas like laparoscopy, infertility, or fetal medicine (added advantage)
Skills
- Strong clinical knowledge in obstetrics & gynaecology
- Ability to manage normal and high-risk pregnancies
- Skilled in handling labour, deliveries, and obstetric emergencies
- Basic surgical skills in gynaecological procedures
- Competence in patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Good understanding of ultrasound basics (preferred)
- Effective communication and patient counselling skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Team player with good coordination and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to work in rotational shifts and on-call duties
