Job description:

Tax Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure timely and accurate filing of all direct and indirect tax returns (Income Tax, TDS, GST, etc.).
• Oversee tax audits, reconciliations, assessments, and appeals.
• Ensure tax accounting and provisioning as per applicable Indian GAAP / Ind AS / IFRS.
• Coordinate with statutory and internal auditors on tax-related matters.

Tax Planning & Strategy

• Develop and implement effective tax strategies to optimize tax costs within the legal framework.
• Evaluate the tax implications of new business initiatives, restructurings, or transactions.
• Stay updated with changes in tax laws, analyze impact, and recommend proactive actions.

Litigation & Dispute Resolution

• Manage end-to-end tax litigation including drafting responses, briefing counsels, attending hearings.
• Handle notices, assessments, scrutiny, and appellate proceedings with ITD, GST authorities, and tribunals.
• Liaise with external advisors and law firms to defend company's position.

Stakeholder Management

• Partner with cross-functional teams (legal, accounting, finance, plant, business development, r&d) to ensure tax alignment.
• Represent the company before tax authorities and regulatory bodies.
• Provide tax advisory to business teams on contracts, pricing, vendor/customer arrangements, etc.

Team Leadership

• Lead and mentor the taxation team including direct and indirect tax professionals.
• Ensure continuous learning, process improvements, and standardization across tax functions.

Qualifications & Skills:

Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) is mandatory.

Additional qualifications like international tax certifications (e.g., ADIT) are a plus.

Experience: Minimum 7 years in Indian taxation with exposure in Direct & Indirect tax, Transfer pricing, Mergers & Acquisitions.
