Position Overview

We are hiring for one of our clients a Group Financial Controller who will be responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of consolidated financial reporting across a group with 40+

global entities.

This is a senior technical finance role with no direct people management, but with significant cross-functional collaboration involving management accountants, finance business partners, and regional finance leads.

The role requires deep technical expertise in group consolidation, UK GAAP (FRS 102), and multi-currency accounting, along with the ability to influence and coordinate across geographies to ensure group financial statements are robust, compliant, and delivered on time.

Key Responsibilities

1. Group Consolidation & Reporting

  • Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements under UK GAAP (FRS 102).
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end group close processes, ensuring accuracy and strict adherence to deadlines.
  • Coordinate with entity-level accountants to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data prior to consolidation.
  • Oversee intercompany reconciliations, eliminations, and foreign currency translation processes.
  • Deliver high-quality group management reporting packs for senior leadership.

2. Acquisition & Post-Acquisition Accounting

  • Lead accounting for business combinations in line with UK GAAP, including purchase price allocation, goodwill, intangible assets, and fair value adjustments.
  • Ensure accurate recording of acquisition-related transactions, including costs, funding structures, and intercompany impacts.
  • Support post-acquisition integration by aligning newly acquired entities with group accounting policies, chart of accounts, and reporting frameworks.
  • Monitor post-acquisition performance against acquisition models and integration plans.

3. Audit & Compliance

  • Act as the primary point of contact for group auditors during statutory audits.
  • Ensure audit compliance across multiple international jurisdictions.
  • Monitor adherence to group accounting policies and internal control frameworks.

4. Technical Accounting & Standards

  • Provide technical accounting guidance to management accountants and finance business partners on complex or non-routine matters.
  • Maintain and update group accounting manuals and policies in line with evolving UK GAAP (FRS 102) and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate and resolve accounting treatments for unusual transactions or new business activities.

5. Tax & Regulatory Support

  • Collaborate with local finance teams and external advisors to ensure timely compliance with corporate tax, VAT/GST, and transfer pricing requirements.
  • Support senior finance leadership on global tax planning and structuring initiatives.

6. Process & Systems Improvement

  • Identify, recommend, and implement improvements in group consolidation and reporting processes.
  • Support ERP and financial systems optimisation to enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and financial controls.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Experience:
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, with strong exposure to multi-entity group consolidation and statutory reporting.
  • Proven expertise in UK GAAP (FRS 102) and multi-currency accounting.
  • Experience working within international or global finance environments.

  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong consolidation expertise, including intercompany processes and elimination adjustments.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP and financial reporting systems.

  • Personal Skills:
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical capability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple countries and time zones.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to influence and challenge stakeholders constructively.
