Graphic Designer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer with hands-on experience in the WASP graphics tool to join our news channel team. The candidate will be responsible for creating high-quality on-air graphics, news templates, titles, and visual elements for live broadcasts and news programmes, ensuring accuracy, visual appeal, and quick turnaround in a fast-paced newsroom environment.

Key Responsibilities: • Design and create on-air graphics, news templates, titles, lower thirds, tickers, and other broadcast visual elements.

• Work with the WASP graphics tool to create, update, and manage graphics for live news broadcasts.

• Coordinate with editorial, production, and PCR teams to meet real-time broadcast requirements. • Develop graphics for breaking news, special coverage, election programming, and major news events.

• Ensure accuracy of names, designations, headlines, data, and other information displayed on screen.

• Follow channel branding guidelines and maintain consistency across news programmes.

• Handle urgent graphic requests and deliver high-quality outputs within tight deadlines.

• Troubleshoot basic graphics-related issues and coordinate with technical teams when required. Qualifications and Skills:

• Proficiency in the WASP graphics tool is mandatory.

• Experience in broadcast graphics, preferably in a news channel or television newsroom.

• Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, or other relevant design software is preferred.

• Strong understanding of typography, colour theory, composition, and visual hierarchy.

• Ability to work under pressure in a live broadcast environment.

• Excellent attention to detail and strong coordination skills.

• Flexibility to work in rotational shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by newsroom operations. Preferred Qualities:

• Prior experience working with live news graphics and broadcast production teams.

• Ability to understand editorial requirements and translate them into effective visual communication.

• A strong portfolio showcasing broadcast graphics or news-related design work.
