Role Description

The Graphic Designer (Publishing) role is a full-time, on-site position based in Gurugram. The Graphic Designer will create and refine visual assets for book covers, interior layouts, promotional materials, social media campaigns, and author branding. Day-to-day tasks include collaborating with editors and marketers to translate creative briefs into compelling designs, preparing print-ready files, and adapting artwork for digital platforms. The role involves maintaining visual consistency across projects, experimenting with typography and layout, and ensuring all designs align with each author's brand and HubHawks quality standards. The Graphic Designer will participate in review cycles, incorporate feedback, and manage multiple design tasks under defined timelines.

This role requires hands-on, prior professional experience designing book covers (front cover, spine, and back cover layouts for print and/or e-books). This is a non-negotiable requirement for the position.

If you do not have prior experience designing book covers, please do not apply — applications without demonstrable book cover design work in the portfolio will not be considered.

Qualifications

  • Proven, prior experience designing book covers is mandatory — your portfolio must include actual published or client book cover projects (not just concept work or mockups).
  • Strong skills in Graphics and Graphic Design, with a focus on publishing and visual storytelling.
  • Skills in Logo Design and Branding to create cohesive author and series identities.
  • Skills in Typography, including font selection, hierarchy, and legibility for both print and digital formats.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign or equivalent) and experience preparing artwork for print and e-books.
  • Relevant experience in book design, publishing, or related creative fields, and a portfolio demonstrating cover designs, layouts, and branding work.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to manage deadlines, and effective collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional teams.
  • Formal education in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent practical experience will be considered.

  • Portfolio Requirement: Applications must include a portfolio link or attached samples specifically showcasing book cover designs. Applications without this will not be reviewed.
