Graphic Designer (InDesign / DTP Specialist) – Bangalore
Urban Design & Planning Practice
Overview
We are looking for a talented Graphic Designer with strong DTP expertise, highly proficient in Adobe InDesign, able to manage large, multi-page documents and maintain professional layout standards.
This role supports our Urban Design team by producing colourful reports, photograph-rich documents, maps, and diagram-based layouts using well-structured InDesign templates and server-based linked files.
This position is specifically for a DTP-strong designer, not a poster/packaging designer.
We require someone who understands layout discipline, styles, templating, and linked-asset workflows, with the ability to deliver clear and visually polished documents.
Key Responsibilities
1. DTP & InDesign Production (Primary Responsibility)
- Create, edit, and structure large multi-page documents using Adobe InDesign.
- Work within predefined templates, correctly using paragraph/character styles, grids, master pages, and layer systems.
- Maintain clean file structures with properly linked photographs, diagrams, maps, and illustrations on the shared server.
- Use efficient InDesign workflows and keyboard shortcuts to improve speed and consistency.
2. Document Layout & Visual Quality
- Arrange photos, maps, and diagrams into balanced, clear, visually consistent layouts.
- Ensure strong control of typography, alignment, spacing, colour consistency, and print-ready accuracy.
- Deliver editorial documents with a high level of internal organisation and visual clarity.
3. Collaboration & File Delivery
- Coordinate with the design team to ensure output matches project expectations.
- Package and deliver well-organised InDesign files so other team members can seamlessly continue working.
- Follow correct linked-file workflows and maintain an orderly asset library.
4. Graphic Design (Secondary Responsibility)
- Provide creative input for covers, logos, infographics, and visual identity elements when required.
- Use Illustrator for diagrams/icons and Photoshop for image enhancements as needed.
Required Skills & Experience
- 2–5 years of professional experience in DTP, editorial design, layout design, or report production.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign is essential.
- Working proficiency in Illustrator (diagrams, vector clean-up).
- Working proficiency in Photoshop (image cropping, colour/contrast adjustments).
- Strong understanding of composition, typography, hierarchy, and layout structure.
- Highly organised in file naming, layer organisation, and linked asset management.
- Ability to work independently and resolve typical technical layout or formatting questions.
- Excellent attention to detail - accuracy is mandatory.
Good to Have
- Experience in architecture, urban planning, property, or infrastructure documentation.
- Understanding of visual standards used in professional reports and presentations.
What We Offer
- A collaborative environment with exposure to high-profile international urban design projects.
- Opportunities to develop deeper skills in editorial design and structured publication workflows.
- A supportive culture with guidance from experienced design and planning professionals.
