Position Summary
The Grant Writer will support the New York-based team and will report to the Program Manager. This role is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing high-quality grant proposals, and supporting post-award compliance and reporting.
The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in India's CSR landscape and government funding, along with the ability and ambition to pursue funding opportunities in the United States. This position requires strategic thinking, strong writing skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones.
Candidates must be available to ensure at least a five-hour overlap with the New York team's weekday working hours.

Key Responsibilities
Funding Research & Strategy
- A self-starter who identifies, researches, and recommends funding opportunities that align with Social Capital Initiatives organizational vision, mission, and strategy
- Maintains prospect databases and robust pipelines of new potential funders
Proposal Development
- Authors proposal drafts and collaborates across teams and timezones to gather and include relevant inputs and necessary data into each proposal
- Collaborates internally with the Program Manager and President on strategically planning how to approach prospects and opportunities
- Write detailed, persuasive, and customized proposals, letters of intent, funding applications, budgets and donor reports
- Collaborate with program team to gather accurate data, outcomes, and financial documentation
- Develop a sustainable process to improve efficiency and enable quality and timely responses such as developing templates for future grants
Grant Management & Compliance
- Maintain a grants tracker and calendar to track deadlines, submissions, and compliances
- Assembles all relevant components of proposals and ensures that a proposal submission complies with all proposal parameters and detailed requirements for each funder
- Meets proposal deadlines by adhering to systems and timelines for the different phases of proposal creation including information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
- Supports grant management activities for secured grants, including documenting and communicating reporting requirements, tracking correspondence with funders, producing grant progress reports, and keeping up with funder reporting requirements and action items
- Assist with post-award grant compliance and impact reporting
- Ensures deliverables and grant program application are implemented and satisfactorily achieved while maintaining accurate supporting documentation
Relationship Management
- Maintain effective, positive relationships through frequent communication with prospective and current grantors
Other Duties
- Attend Programmatic calls to gather information related to our programs and our local partners
- Responsible for other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- A degree in social work or relevant fields related to the responsibilities
- Minimum two years of experience in grant writing, CSR fundraising, or related development roles.
- Demonstrated experience working within India's CSR ecosystem.
- Availability to work five overlapping hours with Eastern Standard Time
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong written communication, proofreading, presentation, analytical skills and the ability to create excellent content and persuasive narratives.
- Ability to work independently and in a highly collaborative team environment across multiple programs, and timezones.
- Solutions-oriented and resourceful initiative-taker who shows determination to solve problems
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, multi-task, prioritize, organize time and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of government RFP processes, with impeccable attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and familiarity with CRM software such as Salesforce
- Adept in using different technology databases and tools to simplify grant management tasks
