This role is responsible for driving the large-scale adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) across government departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), and municipal bodies. The primary objective is to position our EV portfolio as the preferred choice for government procurement by navigating complex tender processes, building high-level bureaucratic relationships, and advocating for EV-friendly policy frameworks.
Education:
BE/ B.Tech (Mechanical/Electrical/Automobile) + Management qualification would be an added advantage
Required Skills:
- Must be from an automobile company OEM only (preferably CV industry) , candidates from auto component supplier cos not eligible
- Should have hands on experience in Government & Institutional Sales
- Should be well versed with GeM and Public Procurement Portals
- Should have handled tenders from PSUs , & Govt deptts like health, municipal corporations, agricultural deptts, police etc.
- Strong understanding of Evs and EV ecosystem , including battery chemistry, charging protocols, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) modeling compared to diesel/petrol counterparts.
- Must be open to travel extensively
- Strong willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced, emerging EV OEM.
- High level of patience and persistence required to manage long government sales cycles and complex regulatory hurdles
- Existing relationships with state transport departments is a significant advantage
Roles & Responsibilities:
- EV Advocacy: Act as the primary point of contact for key govt departments in assigned territories like municipal bodies, health, agriculture, PSUs , Police etc. Educate government stakeholders on the EV ecosystem, focusing on the long-term benefits and operational efficiencies of electric fleets. Advocate for the inclusion of specific EV categories in government procurement guidelines.
- Policy Mapping: Stay abreast of national and state-level EV policies , state subsidies, and battery swapping regulations to provide consultative solutions to government clients.
- Institutional Sales Growth led by Sector - Specific Acquisitions:
- Develop and execute a roadmap to convert government fleets from Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) to Electric.
- Target and secure contracts from diverse departments, including health (ambulances), municipal corporations (waste management ), agriculture (tractors), and police departments(troop carriers), last-mile delivery, and passenger transport etc.
- Tender Management: Monitor and lead end-to-end bidding process on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and other state-specific procurement portals. Ensure technical and commercial compliance from RFI stage onwards. Ensure product fitment.
- Vehicle Customization Liaison: Identify specific department needs and demonstrate a knack for managing vehicle customization requirements to fit institutional use cases.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with the product and engineering teams and external body builders to ensure vehicles meet specific government standards and customised requirements for end applications
