Job Description


The position will be responsible for managing and strengthening Industrial Relations across the organization's manufacturing locations. The role will partner closely with the Management to proactively address IR matters, foster a positive employee environment, and ensure effective engagement with workmen, unions, and statutory authorities.

The position reports to the Senior Vice President – HR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and strengthen formal and informal two-way communication channels to promote transparency, trust, and effective employee relations.
  • Develop and institutionalize sustainable Industrial Relations policies and practices aligned with the long-term interests of the organization.
  • Lead employee counselling, grievance resolution, and conflict management initiatives to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives, including Employee Satisfaction Surveys and other developmental interventions.
  • Liaise with government and enforcement authorities on matters relating to Labour Laws and statutory compliance.
  • Independently manage Industrial Relations matters, including domestic enquiries, disciplinary proceedings, and employee-related disputes.
  • Build a culture of trust, cooperation, participation, and mutual respect through a proactive and collaborative IR approach.
  • Oversee and coordinate legal matters related to labour issues, including court cases, industrial disputes, accident cases, and other employment-related matters.
  • Manage relationships with multiple workers unions and lead wage settlement discussions and negotiations.
  • Partner with Management in negotiating and executing long-term wage settlements and agreements with unions.
  • Proactively identify potential IR risks and develop appropriate strategies to mitigate disputes and maintain industrial harmony.
  • Work closely with plant leadership and HR teams to ensure consistent implementation of IR policies and practices across manufacturing locations.

Education & Experience

  • MBA – HR / MSW / MHRM from a reputed institution.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in Industrial Relations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience in managing workers unions, wage settlements, collective bargaining, and long-term agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead wage settlement meetings and negotiate effectively with union representatives.
  • Strong exposure to handling disciplinary proceedings, domestic enquiries, labour disputes, and employment-related legal matters.
