This Position reports to:
Digital Platform Operations ManagerABB's Process Automation business area enables customers to operate some of the world's largest and most complex industrial infrastructures, helping them outrun - leaner and cleaner. We offer a broad range of automation, electrification and digital solutions for process, hybrid and maritime industries, including industry-specific integrated control and software as well as measurement and analytics solutions and services.
In this role, we are looking for an experienced Global SaaS Operations Architect to join our Industrial Automation Digital Organization. The role requires a seasoned professional with deep expertise in defining and governing operational architectures for highly scalable hybrid SaaS platforms spanning Azure cloud, on-premises, and edge environments. The candidate will be responsible for establishing operational standards, reliability frameworks, observability strategies, and deployment governance to ensure stable, secure, and supportable platform operations across diverse environments.

You will be mainly accountable for:
. Define and govern operational architecture standards, reference patterns, and readiness frameworks for SaaS operations across Azure cloud, on-premises, and edge environments.
. Establish standardized approaches for deployments, upgrades, monitoring, backup and recovery, rollback procedures, and environment lifecycle management to ensure operational consistency and scalability.
. Drive platform reliability by defining operability requirements, resilience patterns, capacity planning approaches, and architectural improvements to address recurring operational issues and reduce incident recurrence.
. Develop operational standards for Kubernetes platforms including AKS, OpenShift, K3s, and MicroK8s, covering ingress, networking, storage, secrets management, observability, and upgrade readiness.
. Define observability and automation strategies encompassing monitoring, logging, telemetry, alerting, health checks, and self-healing capabilities to improve operational efficiency and service visibility.
. Establish operational readiness criteria and governance frameworks for customer onboarding, platform upgrades, migrations, production releases, and major deployment transitions.
. Collaborate with DevSecOps, Platform Engineering, SecOps, FinOps, Infrastructure, and Product Engineering teams to ensure operational architectures align with security, compliance, reliability, and cost optimization objectives.
. Provide architectural guidance and technical direction for hybrid edge deployments, customer environments, connectivity patterns, and industrial integration scenarios involving technologies such as MQTT, OPC UA, and secure remote operations.
. Develop reusable architecture documentation, operational standards, readiness checklists, decision records, and knowledge assets to enable teams to execute consistently and effectively.
. Support leadership decision-making by identifying architecture risks, modernization opportunities, and strategic recommendations that improve operational maturity and platform reliability.
. 10-15 years of experience in SaaS operations, platform architecture, cloud operations, or related roles with significant exposure to enterprise-scale hybrid environments.
. Proven expertise in designing and governing operational architectures for Azure-based SaaS platforms, including cloud-native and hybrid deployment models.
. Strong hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes ecosystems including AKS, OpenShift, K3s, and MicroK8s, with experience in deployment patterns, observability, upgrades, and operational governance.
. Solid understanding of hybrid edge computing environments and industrial integration technologies, including EdgeAI deployments, MQTT, OPC UA, SFTP, and customer environment onboarding.
. Extensive experience with observability platforms such as Grafana, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Splunk, Zabbix, or equivalent solutions to establish effective monitoring and operational insights.
. Experience with CI/CD practices and deployment governance using Azure DevOps, GitHub, Helm, container registries, and automated release pipelines.
. Good understanding of data platforms and technologies including Azure SQL, Databricks, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, CrateDB, and data integration patterns supporting operational workloads.
. Working knowledge of identity and security technologies including Entra ID, Key Vault, certificate management, secrets management, and alignment with SecOps practices.
. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with demonstrated experience driving architecture-level improvements through RCA analysis and operational optimization initiatives.
. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Operations, Platform Engineering, DevSecOps, Security, Infrastructure, Product Engineering, and leadership teams.
. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines. Relevant cloud, Kubernetes, or architecture certifications are considered an advantage.
