Role Summary

RS Software is building a world-class Global Pre-Sales organization to win complex payments opportunities through credible proof—not just presentations. We are hiring a Sales Engineer / Solution Engineer based in India to support global pursuits (including North America and partner-led opportunities) by translating customer needs into solution designs, demos, POV/POCs, and executive-ready narratives.

This is a high-impact, customer-facing role that also contributes to building the pre-sales operating system: reusable assets, demo/POV environments, standards, and CRM-based influence tracking. The role reports into the Global Pre-Sales Leader / Head of GTM Strategy and works cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Engineering, Marketing, Security/Compliance, and Delivery.

Key Responsibilities

1) Discovery, Solution Fit & Deal Support

  • Lead structured discovery workshops and convert requirements into a clear requirements → proof map.
  • Build credible solution fit: architecture, integrations, deployment approach, data flows, and non-functional requirements.
  • Produce crisp pursuit artifacts: deal brief, stakeholder map, mutual action plan, and POV scope.

2) Demo Excellence & Executive Storytelling

  • Deliver persona-based presentations and demos that tie features to business outcomes and measurable impact.
  • Build storyboarded demos using a Say → Show → Prove approach.
  • Communicate tradeoffs and recommendations with confidence and clarity in exec-facing forums.

3) POV/POC Strategy & Execution (Proof-Led)

  • Scope and execute POV/POCs with explicit success criteria, exit criteria, timeline, and effort sizing.
  • Coordinate cross-functional SMEs (engineering/security/product) to ensure feasibility and delivery readiness.
  • Maintain POV governance to reduce rework and accelerate conversions.

4) Objection Handling, Security/Risk & RFP Support

  • Handle technical objections (architecture, integration, scalability, resilience, security) calmly and convincingly.
  • Contribute to security questionnaires, standard artifacts, and risk responses.
  • Support RFPs/proposals with accurate solutioning, assumptions, and proof points.

5) Reusable Assets, Content Governance & CRM Influence

  • Create and maintain reusable assets: reference architectures, POV templates, demo scripts, value tools, and case-study inputs.
  • Log activities and outcomes in CRM to improve influence attribution, stage conversion tracking, and forecast hygiene.
  • Participate in operating cadence: weekly deal reviews, monthly capability sessions, and QBRs.

Required Qualifications (Must-Have)

  • 4–8+ years in Sales Engineering / Solution Engineering / Pre-Sales / Solution Consulting for B2B products (SaaS, enterprise software, fintech).
  • Payments domain experience is required (depth can vary). Prefer candidates who already have strong coverage across several areas and are highly motivated to learn the rest quickly.
  • Strong ability to translate business needs into technical solutions (APIs, integrations, workflows, data, controls).
  • Proven experience delivering customer-facing demos and leading technical workstreams during sales cycles.
  • Experience scoping and running POV/POCs with success criteria and structured governance.
  • Strong communication: can write clean artifacts and present to both technical teams and executives.

Payments Domain (Required — have as much as possible, learn the rest)

Required familiarity with core concepts across retail digital payments, such as:

  • Merchant acquiring & acceptance (North America): processors/acquirers/PayFac models, merchant onboarding, risk/underwriting concepts, chargebacks/disputes.
  • payment flows, auth/clearing/settlement concepts (as relevant), reconciliation, exceptions
  • APIs/integrations common in payments ecosystems
  • operational realities: onboarding, disputes/chargebacks (where relevant), reporting, compliance touchpoints
  • Fraud & risk management: transaction monitoring, risk signals, rules/ML concepts, ATO patterns, operational workflows.

Nice-to-Have Domain Experience (Preferred)

  • Europe digital payments trends: awareness of themes like open banking evolution, instant payments initiatives (e.g., SEPA Instant), ISO 20022 modernization, and PSD2/PSD3-era directionality.

What Success Looks Like (KPIs / Outcomes)

Measured primarily on quality of influence and repeatability:

  • Improved Demo → Next Step conversion (clear mutual actions after key meetings)
  • Higher POV entry rate and POV → Win conversion
  • Reduced cycle time / rework through better POV scoping and reusable assets
  • Strong artifact quality (deal briefs, architectures, POV plans, security responses)
  • High reuse of standard assets and adherence to operating cadence/CRM hygiene
  • Independently leads solutioning for strategic pursuits
  • Runs exec-ready demos and POV scoping without senior rescue
  • Authors reusable assets adopted by the broader team
  • Influences measurable outcomes (demo→next step, POV conversion, reduced rework)
  • Mentors/junior-coaches (even before direct reports exist)

Working Model

  • Time-zone overlap: ability to support a planned overlap with North America when required (structured, not chaotic)
  • Travel: occasional travel for key pursuits/workshops (as needed)
