Job Overview
The Global Payroll Specialist will lead end-to-end payroll implementations for clients onboarding onto peopleHum. This role is implementation-first: you'll own requirement gathering, payroll setup/configuration, data migration & validation, training, UAT support, and go-live readiness.
You should be strong in payroll fundamentals and even stronger in execution someone who can run structured implementation plans, handle multiple stakeholders, and ensure clients go live smoothly with accurate payroll output.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Payroll Implementation Ownership (Primary): Lead payroll implementation projects from kickoff to go-live for new client accounts.Run discovery calls to understand payroll structures, payout cycles, salary components, policies, and attendance/leave dependencies.Create and manage an implementation plan with clear milestones: data readiness configuration validation UAT training go-live.Configure payroll setup inside peopleHum (salary structures, earnings/deductions, statutory settings, pay schedules, and payroll rules).Drive UAT: guide the client through test scenarios, validate results, and ensure sign-off readiness.Data Migration, Validation & Accuracy Checks
- Own client payroll data collection: employee master, salary breakups, statutory details, bank details, declarations, and historical payroll inputs (as applicable).Perform data audits and validations to ensure clean, accurate imports and correct payroll outcomes.Identify gaps/inconsistencies (missing statutory fields, incorrect salary mapping, invalid formats) and coordinate with the client to fix them quickly.Support reconciliation during parallel runs (client payroll vs system payroll) until accuracy is achieved.Payroll Knowledge + Compliance Mapping
- Apply payroll fundamentals to configure and validate payroll outcomes correctly (gross-to-net, deductions, reimbursements, arrears).Support basic compliance mapping inside the system (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, etc. depending on client requirements).Help clients translate payroll policies into system rules without breaking compliance or payroll logic.Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Product/Tech/Support teams on implementation dependencies and escalations.Log clear implementation issues with context, sample data, screenshots, and expected outcomes to speed up resolution.Track escalations, follow-ups, and timelines to ensure implementation does not stall.Documentation & Process Improvement
- Maintain accurate project documentation (configuration notes, client decisions, implementation trackers, UAT checklist).Create/update implementation SOPs, onboarding checklists, help guides, and FAQs based on recurring implementation patterns.Provide feedback loops to internal teams on product gaps and repeated blockers seen during implementations.
Required Qualifications
- 23 years of experience in payroll implementation / HRMS implementation / payroll operations with implementation exposure.
- Hands-on experience handling at least some part of payroll setup, payroll policy mapping, or payroll processing workflows.
- Solid working knowledge of salary structures, payroll components, deductions, attendance-linked payroll, and compliance basics (PF/ESI/PT/TDS, as applicable).
- Ability to validate payroll output and troubleshoot mismatches logically.
- BPO payroll process experience is a plus.

- Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets (filters, pivots, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data cleanup, validations)
- Comfortable handling large datasets and implementation templates
- High ownership, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple implementations with deadlines.
- Problem-solving mindset: understands issues, isolates root cause, and drives resolution.
Good to have skills
- Prior experience implementing payroll on any HRMS/payroll SaaS product.
- Exposure to UAT planning, parallel run support, and go-live checklists.
- Experience with CRM/ticketing tools for tracking implementation tasks and issues.
