This Position reports to:
IS ManagerYour role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to own software solution architecture across multiple architecture categories and ensure its alignment with enterprise and data architecture standards. Each day, you will be responsible for the design and build, integrity, and quality of an Information Systems (IS) solution and associated IS services delivered to business. You will also showcase your expertise by consulting, advising, and supporting on the installation of new IS solutions/services, or changing existing IS solutions/services.
The work model for the role is: onsite/hybrid
You will be mainly accountable for:
Strategic design of observability framework, includingselectionand integration of on-premises, Cloud, network and application monitoring and observability solutions.
Analyzes and understands the organization's requirements towards monitoring & observability
Designs and deploys global observability strategy including definition and integration of specific monitoring & observability tools
Collaborateswith Service Owners with regards to requirement mapping, ensuring the strategy fits business needs
Management of the global IS Observability platform, including event deduplication,correlationand ticketing
Collaborates with observability solutions on the market to ensure ABB stays on top of the current technology
Ensures adoption of the global IS Observability platform across the IS to deliver single pane of glass capability to the organization
Defines and ownsend‑to‑end observability solution designs and ensures alignment with surrounding IS platforms and applications.
Reviews and signsofffunctional and technical solution specifications for implementations in ABB production environments.
Supports validation and prioritization ofobservability‑relateddemand in collaboration with IS Service Owners and Lead Architects.
Engages with suppliers on new monitoring requirements or unsatisfactory performance andparticipatesin external partners-related service improvement initiatives and programs.
Acts asescalationpoint for solutionarchitecture issues during project delivery and service operations.
Collaborates with delivery teams,vendorsand stakeholders to ensurehigh‑qualityandcost‑efficientsolutions.
Contributesto incident and problem management by resolving architectural gaps and reducing recurring issues.
Provides governance including architectural documentation. . Ensures that the information is presented effectively and communicated to the relevant stakeholders regularly.
Assesses the ideas for efficiency improvement and value addition and decides based on their technological, financial, and functional feasibilities.
Ensurescompliance with ABB IS policies, security, regulatory and architectural standards.
Keeps knowledge up to date on emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Qualifications for the role
15+ years of overall IT experience, with strong focus on solution architecture andobservability‑relatedplatforms and services.
Proven architecture andhands‑onexpertiseacross Observability domains, including:
Network Monitoring & Observability: LAN/WAN, WLAN, VPN, SD‑WAN, Zscaler, ICMP, SNMP. Proven experience inThousandEyes, SolarWinds or equivalent network monitoring tools
Infrastructure Monitoring:Checkmkor similar enterprise infrastructure monitoring platforms
Application Performance Monitoring (APM): Dynatrace or comparable APM tools
AIOps / Event Intelligence:Moogsoft,BigPandaor similar platforms
OpenTelemetryand other Open-Source Solutions
Expertisein implementation and maintenance of monitoring solutions in a distributed setup for the above tools.
Strong experience with visualization and analytics platforms such as Grafana or equivalent.
Good understanding of telemetry pipelines, streaming and integration technologies (e.g.Kafka), APIs, and data flows across enterprise platforms.
Experience designing end‑to‑endobservability architectures, including integrations with ITSM, CMDB, cloud,DevOpsand automation platforms.
Ability to create and maintain HLDs, LLDs, architecture diagrams, solutionblueprintsand standards.
Expert in one of the Cloud platforms (AWS,Azureor GCP), Containers and proven experience in working in hybrid environments. Professional Technical Certifications are highlydesirables.
Excellent architectural acumen and experience in designing globally spanning Monitoring and Observability systems
Good scripting knowledge - PowerShell, Python, Bash, etc. And excellent handling of REST APIs
Knowledge of automation,orchestrationand platform scalability, including availability and capacity management concepts.
Familiarity with SRE principles, reliability engineeringpracticesand ITIL processes.
Observability‑relatedtool certifications preferred.
Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to translate business and operational needs into clear architectural decisions and a long‑termobservability vision for standardization and platform evolution.
