Global Category Manager – Indirect & Technical Spend
Role Purpose
Accountable for enterprise-wide value creation and risk stewardship across USD 250M+ global indirect and technical spend, including IT, Facilities, MRO, CAPEX, Energy, and Corporate Services. The role provides strategic leadership, drives analytics-led decision making, and partners with senior leaders in a complex global matrix.
Key Responsibilities
1. Category Strategy & Value Delivery
- Define and execute global category strategies aligned to corporate objectives.
- Drive multi-year value beyond savings, including productivity, risk mitigation, working capital, and ESG.
- Lead transformation initiatives such as supplier ecosystem redesign, demand management, and make-vs-buy.
2. Executive Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, HR, and Operations.
- Influence enterprise decisions through fact-based insights and market intelligence.
- Represent Procurement in executive governance forums.
3. Commercial, Risk & Governance Leadership
- Govern complex sourcing, negotiations, and strategic supplier relationships.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, audits, and ethical standards.
- Lead category-level risk management across financial, geopolitical, and regulatory dimensions.
4. Analytics & Digital Enablement
- Set the vision for analytics-driven indirect procurement.
- Lead spend analytics, executive dashboards, and value tracking.
- Drive adoption and optimization of digital procurement platforms (e.g., GEP, SAP).
5. Matrix Leadership & Transformation
- Lead a virtual global category organization and develop talent and standards.
- Coach high-potential leaders and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Act as a visible change leader in ambiguous, fast-evolving environments.
Experience & Capabilities
- 12–15+ years in global procurement/category management with large spend ownership.
- Strong experience in matrixed, global organizations.
- Expertise in SAP, e-sourcing tools (GEP or equivalent), Excel, Power BI, and PowerPoint.
- Strong commercial judgment, stakeholder influence, and enterprise mindset.
