Job Description: GitHub Administrator
Location - Bangalore
Role Overview
Own the day-to-day administration and governance of the GitHub environment, ensuring repositories, teams, users, access, and workflows are well managed and follow established standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage GitHub organizations, repositories, teams, users, and permissions.
• Create, configure, archive, and maintain repositories.
• Manage team structures, membership, and repository access.
• Conduct regular access, repository, and team audits.
• Manage repository standards including branch protection, CODEOWNERS, and templates.
• Support users with Git, pull requests, branching, and GitHub workflows.
• Provide basic support for GitHub Actions and troubleshoot common issues.
• Support teams adopting Content-as-Code / Markdown-based workflows.
• Create documentation, onboarding material, and conduct GitHub office hours.
• Identify opportunities to improve governance, simplify processes, and automate repetitive tasks.
Required Skills
• Hands-on experience with GitHub administration.
• Good understanding of Git and GitHub workflows.
• Experience managing repositories, teams, users, and permissions.
• Understanding of GitHub Actions and repository governance.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Nice to Have
• GitHub Enterprise experience.
• GitHub CLI/API knowledge.
• Basic scripting or automation experience.
• Experience with Content-as-Code or Documentation-as-Code.
