Job Description Geotechnical Engineer (Bridges Flyovers)
Position: Geotechnical Engineer
Industry: Infrastructure / EPC Bridges Flyovers
Experience: 7 - 15 Years
Qualification: B.Tech / M.Tech in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical Engineering preferred)
Role Responsibilities
- Conduct and review geotechnical investigations for bridge, flyover, ROB/RUB, and elevated corridor projects.
- Interpret soil investigation reports, bore logs, SPT/CPT results, lab test data, and prepare Geotechnical Design Reports (GDR).
Design And Review Foundation Systems Including
- Pile foundations (bored, driven, cast-in-situ)
- Well foundations
- Open / shallow foundations
- Carry out bearing capacity, settlement, and stability analysis for foundations and substructures.
- Provide technical inputs for pile load tests, integrity tests, and well sinking methodology.
- Coordinate with design consultants, structural designers, and proof-checkers on geotechnical aspects.
Support site teams during foundation execution, troubleshooting soil-related issues such as:
- Pile refusal / necking
- Sand boils / scour
- Well tilting shifting
- Review and approve method statements related to piling, well foundation, and ground improvement works.
- Ensure compliance with IRC, IS codes, MoRTH, and project specifications.
- Participate in value engineering and optimization of foundation solutions.
- Assist in preparation of technical bids and tender documents related to geotechnical scope.
Key Skills Competencies
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, and rock mechanics.
- Hands-on experience in bridge flyover foundation design.
- Expertise in piling, well foundation, and soil-structure interaction.
- Familiar with geotechnical software (PLAXIS, GEO5, SAFE, STAAD Foundation, etc.).
- Ability to analyze site problems and provide practical, constructible solutions.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in river bridges, marine bridges, flyovers, and elevated structures.
- Exposure to segmental bridges, PSC structures, and deep foundations.
- Prior work with EPC contractors / large infrastructure companies.
