TerraVerdict provides human verified intelligence for flood and catastrophe events detected by satellite based AI systems. We operate as the verification and explainability layer behind Earth observation and risk platforms, turning automated detections into defensible and audit ready decisions for insurance, risk, and climate stakeholders. This is an operations focused analyst role, not a research position.

Role Overview

As a Geospatial Analyst, you will analyze satellite imagery and geospatial data to verify flood and disaster events, assess spatial consistency, and produce clear written rationales that support downstream decision making. You will work hands on with SAR and optical imagery, GIS tools, and event based datasets to determine whether detected events are real, persistent, and decision grade.

Key Responsibilities

- Analyze satellite imagery using SAR and optical data to verify flood and disaster events

- Delineate and interpret inundation patterns using geospatial tools

- Assess spatial coherence, persistence, and plausibility of detected events

- Compare imagery across time windows to distinguish true events from noise

- Use GIS software such as QGIS to visualize, inspect, and annotate data

- Apply structured reasoning to determine confidence levels and verdicts

- Produce concise written verification rationales suitable for audit and review

- Follow defined SOPs and contribute feedback to improve analyst workflows

- Participate in peer review and quality assurance processes

Required Skills and Experience

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, GIS, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field

- Strong working knowledge of GIS tools, QGIS required, ArcGIS a plus

- Experience working with satellite imagery such as Sentinel 1, Sentinel 2, Landsat, or similar

- Understanding of core remote sensing concepts including backscatter, water indices, and time series comparison

- Ability to reason spatially and explain conclusions clearly in writing

- High attention to detail and consistency in analytical judgment

- Comfortable working with defined workflows and operational deadlines

Nice to Have

- Experience with SAR imagery and flood mapping

- Familiarity with Copernicus EMS or other disaster response datasets

- Experience in insurance, risk analytics, climate monitoring, or EO startups

- Basic Python or scripting for geospatial workflows

What This Role Is

- Hands on, analytical, and judgment driven

- Focused on real world event verification

- Operational and impact oriented

What This Role Is Not

- Academic research

- Model development or machine learning engineering

- Dashboard only GIS work

Why Join TerraVerdict

- Work on real flood and catastrophe events with global relevance

- Be part of a human in the loop system shaping trust in AI decisions

- Develop deep practical expertise in Earth observation verification and disaster analytics

- Clear path to senior analyst and quality lead roles
