Job Description

ExxonMobil is seeking a Geoscientist - Petrophysicist for its Bengaluru, India location. The role involves working on challenging petrophysical problems with a multidisciplinary team of formation evaluation specialists and operations geologists based in Houston, USA.

Qualification

Master's degree or equivalent/higher, with a minimum GPA of 6.5 or equivalent, from a recognized university in Geology, Geophysics, Physics, or related Earth Science disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define project objectives, work scopes, and deliverables with the Formation Evaluation group and relevant Business Units.
  • Contribute to petrophysical project activities including data preparation, preprocessing, filtering/augmentation, environmental corrections, calibration, and interpretation.
  • Provide real-time operational support during drilling and completion activities.
  • Conduct model-based petrophysical analyses to evaluate reservoir properties and fluid distributions.
  • Develop innovative approaches to improve multi-well workflows.
  • Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, engineers, and other disciplines across conventional, unconventional, and CCS reservoirs.
  • Perform log QA/QC, rock physics modeling, and fluid substitution to support seismic studies.
  • Support the development and delivery of petrophysical software tools, models, algorithms, and workflows.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience in hands-on petrophysical/formation evaluation analysis supporting upstream oil and gas operations.
  • Experience across conventional and unconventional reservoirs and various stages of the field lifecycle.
  • Operational support experience and knowledge of cased-hole log interpretation.
  • Knowledge of advanced logging measurements and data acquisition is desirable.
  • Experience with one or more integrated petrophysical analysis software suites.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Coding skills and knowledge of statistical methods, machine learning, or numerical modeling are additional advantages.
