Job Description
AI Prompt Engineer
Location: Pune, India, fully onsite
Employment Type: Long-term contract with potential for permanent conversion
Salary: 30-40 LPA
Shift: 2:30pm - 10:30pm IST
Joining Date: Immediate Start Date
Required Qualifications
- Hands-on experience building or supporting Generative AI and LLM applications, including production prompt design, testing, and optimization.
- Strong understanding of RAG, embeddings, vectorization/vector databases, tokenization, context windows, and retrieval strategies.
- Experience troubleshooting AI response issues involving hallucinations, prompts, retrieval, vectorization, content, or underlying data.
- Strong Python skills and experience with AWS.
- Experience with Snowflake, data lakes, or similar enterprise data platforms.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with AI engineers, data teams, technical SMEs, and business users.
- Strong technical foundation in data, engineering, AI, or a related discipline.
- Ability to work fully onsite in Pune from 2:30 PM–10:30 PM IST.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in Data Science, Data Engineering, ML Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with Claude Code, Cursor, and/or MCP.
- Hands-on experience with vector databases and AWS-based retrieval/vectorization technologies.
- Experience supporting GenAI applications in technical or engineering environments.
- Experience developing evaluation methods for prompt and RAG quality.
Job Overview
This person will own the design, testing, and optimization of prompts across multiple internal GenAI applications. They will work closely with AI engineers, data teams, and SMEs to improve response accuracy, consistency, relevance, and speed while reducing hallucinations.
A major part of the role will involve diagnosing whether poor AI responses stem from prompts, user inputs, RAG/retrieval, vectorization, source content, underlying data, or application behavior. They will use Python, AWS, Snowflake/data lake environments, and modern AI development tools to test solutions and improve application performance.
The role supports high-volume technical use cases and collaborates with globally distributed teams across India, Europe, and the United States.
