Role Description This is a full-time, on-site General Surgery role based at Apex Hospitals in Sawai Madhopur. The General Surgeon will evaluate patients, conduct thorough clinical examinations, and recommend appropriate surgical or non-surgical interventions. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing elective and emergency general surgical procedures, preoperative and postoperative management, and coordinating perioperative care with anesthesiology, nursing, and critical care teams. The role also involves participating in daily rounds, updating patient records, counseling patients and families on diagnoses and treatment plans, and adhering to hospital protocols and infection control standards. The surgeon will contribute to case discussions, morbidity and mortality meetings, and quality improvement initiatives, while supporting the training and supervision of junior medical staff where required.
Qualifications
  • Completed MBBS from a recognized institution with valid registration from the relevant medical council.
  • MS or DNB in General Surgery (or equivalent recognized qualification) with sound clinical and operative training.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills, including patient evaluation, diagnostic reasoning, and perioperative management.
  • Proficiency in common general surgical procedures (e.g., appendectomy, hernia repair, cholecystectomy, trauma-related surgeries) and basic laparoscopic techniques preferred.
  • Solid understanding of aseptic techniques, infection prevention, and patient safety protocols in a hospital setting.
  • Ability to manage emergency and critical surgical cases, including timely decision-making and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and colleagues, including the ability to provide clear explanations and obtain informed consent.
  • Commitment to ethical medical practice, evidence-based care, and adherence to NABH and hospital standards.
  • Willingness to participate in shift duties, on-call rotations, and emergency coverage as required by the department.
  • Experience in a tertiary care or multi-specialty hospital is an advantage; exposure to teaching or mentoring junior clinicians
