Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role for a General Surgeon based in Dehradun at KANISHK Surgical & Super Specialty Hospital. The General Surgeon will perform elective and emergency surgical procedures, including pre-operative evaluation, operative management, and post-operative care for a wide range of general and GI surgical conditions. Responsibilities include conducting outpatient clinics, ward rounds, and emergency room consultations, as well as interpreting diagnostic tests and coordinating multidisciplinary care with other specialists. The role involves maintaining accurate medical records, adhering to hospital protocols and NABH standards, and ensuring high-quality, safe, and evidence-based surgical care. The General Surgeon is also expected to participate in clinical discussions, teaching activities, and surgical workshops hosted by the hospital.
Qualifications
  • Strong core competencies in Surgery and General Medicine, with the ability to manage pre-, intra-, and post-operative patient care.
  • Familiarity or experience collaborating with specialties such as Orthopedic Surgery and Ophthalmology to support multidisciplinary case management.
  • Exposure to or interest in allied surgical domains such as Plastic Surgery for comprehensive surgical planning and referral coordination.
  • Recognized medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and completed residency/postgraduate training in General Surgery (e.g., MS/DNB or equivalent), with current medical registration/license.
  • Proficiency in surgical decision-making, clinical judgment, and evidence-based practice, with strong skills in emergency and trauma management.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to work in a team-oriented environment, and commitment to ethical, patient-centered care.
  • Willingness to participate in continuing medical education, hospital quality initiatives, and teaching or mentoring activities.
  • Prior experience in a NABH-accredited or tertiary care hospital is an advantage; familiarity with electronic medical records is beneficial.
