Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a General Manager - Trucks Maintenance, based in Mumbai. The role requires overseeing the maintenance and operational efficiency of the electric truck fleet, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The General Manager will manage and lead technical teams, develop preventative maintenance schedules, monitor repair processes, and optimize fleet performance. Additionally, the individual will coordinate with suppliers, manage budgets, and implement strategies for enhancing maintenance operations.
The Truck E&M role is responsible for overseeing engineering, maintenance, and operational efficiency of electric and non-electric truck fleets across the network. The role ensures high fleet availability, adherence to safety standards, cost optimization, and alignment with organizational goals in sustainable and efficient transportation.
Responsibilities
Engineering & Maintenance:
- Develop and implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies for EV and non-EV trucks across locations.
- Ensure maximum fleet uptime and operational efficiency through structured maintenance planning.
- Monitor and maintain all truck-related infrastructure, equipment, and depot facilities.
- Implement OEM-recommended service schedules, checklists, and maintenance protocols.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and condition assessments of fleet vehicles.
- Identify root causes of recurring technical issues and coordinate with OEMs for resolution and warranty claims.
Technical & Compliance Management:
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, safety norms, and quality standards.
- Oversee calibration, testing, and certification of equipment and vehicles as per legal requirements.
- Support technical evaluation of tenders, vendor selection, and OEM partnerships.
Inventory & Cost Management:
- Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring availability of critical components as per fleet size.
- Monitor maintenance budgets, Capex planning, and operational expenditures.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives and optimize maintenance processes.
Training & Development:
- Plan and conduct training programs for maintenance teams in coordination with OEMs and suppliers.
- Upgrade team skills on new technologies, EV systems, and diagnostic tools.
Stakeholder & Coordination:
- Liaise with internal departments, vendors, OEMs, and government authorities for smooth operations.
Qualifications & Experiences
- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Automobile Engineering preferred
- Experience in fleet management, maintenance operations, and technical troubleshooting
- Knowledge of electric truck systems, vehicle diagnostics, and sustainable technologies
- Strong leadership and team management skills, including training and performance assessment
- Proficiency in budget management and cost optimization related to fleet operations
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities; attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and stakeholder interactions
- Working knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards
- Relevant educational background in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is a plus
- Experience in the electric mobility or transportation sector is highly desirable
- 5–10 years of experience in fleet maintenance / commercial vehicles / EV trucks
- Strong knowledge of truck systems, diagnostics, and maintenance practices
- Experience in EV technology will be an added advantage
