Build India's first great hardware brand.
Native is the hardware division of Urban Company. Urban Company is the worldʼs largest
home services platform, serving India, UAE, and Singapore. We deliver an unparalleled
range of services including beauty services & treatments, appliance repairs, massages,
home repairs, and cleaning.
At Native, we design and build high-performance products for Indian homes from scratch,
and in-house by sweating the details in-and-out.
In just over a year, we've redefined the RO purifiers:
- Filters that last 2 years (a first in India)
- Zero service calls for 24 months
- Unmatched design, fit, and finish
We also re-invented what a truly smart door lock should be like:
- Camera that lets you see who's at the door before you open (from anywhere)
- Truly remote unlock that works from anywhere
- Exceptional, trend-setting design
At Urban Company and Native, we understand how to build services and products that
people love and feel magical! Native is not just another hardware company. Native is your
opportunity to build a new kind of brand for India that's obsessed with customer delight.
What you'll do
You'll work closely with the core NPD team and become the face of Native by UC for any
new sourcing partnerships related to new product developments as well as current
product improvements. You will own the supply chain journey from sourcing and
prototyping to vendor development and procurement for production scale-up.
Roles and Responsibilities
● Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development: Identify, evaluate, and onboard
suppliers for mechanical, electronic, and plastic components critical to NPD. Lead
supplier negotiations to secure the best balance of cost, quality, and delivery
timelines.
● Cost & Timeline Management for New Product Launches: Own the BoM cost,
development costs, and timelines for all new products under development.
Collaborate closely with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure
that products are delivered within the agreed cost structure and development
timelines, balancing quality, cost-efficiency, and speed to market.
● Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with design and engineering
teams to translate product concepts into manufacturable parts. Collaborate with
R&D, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of sourced
components.
● Tooling & Moulding Commercials: Manage the costs of tooling, moulding, and
related hardware development processes, ensuring alignment with budget and
production timelines while maintaining quality standards.
● Lifecycle Management: Drive development of prototypes by working with vendors
on tooling, pilot runs, and iterative improvements. Manage the end-to-end supply
chain for new products, from component sourcing to final production.
● Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure quality compliance through vendor
audits, first article inspections, and validation processes. Mitigate risks by
developing alternate vendor strategies, ensuring supply continuity for critical
components.
● Forecasting & Planning: Forecast and plan procurement needs for NPD projects to
enable seamless production readiness. Maintain key procurement metrics and
build a culture of first-principles cost analysis and long-term vendor partnerships.
We are looking for:
Weʼre looking for a dynamic and driven Procurement Manager who thrives in a
fast-paced, innovative environment and is passionate about building high-performance
products. You should be ready to make an impact by managing end-to-end procurement
for cutting-edge hardware solutions, while ensuring cost-efficiency, speed, and quality.
We need someone whoʼs not just operational, but also strategic — someone who can
contribute to the development of the next generation of game-changing products for
Indian homes:
● 3-6 years of hands-on experience in procurement within hardware-intensive
industries such as Electric Vehicles, Consumer Appliances, Wearables, FMCG,
Energy, Oil & Gas, etc. Experience in electronics, automotive, or consumer
durables is preferred.
● Bachelor's or Master's degree from top-tier institutions like IIT, BITS, NIT, or
similar, with a strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, or electronic
engineering. MBA is a plus.
● Proven track record in end-to-end product lifecycle management, including
sourcing of mechanical parts, electronic components, and plastics for prototyping,
manufacturing, and production-scale operations.
● Deep understanding of component sourcing, supply chain optimization, and
vendor management, with the ability to negotiate cost-effective deals while
ensuring product quality and timely delivery.
● Hands-on experience with vendor evaluation, auditing, and risk management to
maintain supply chain continuity and compliance.
● Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational excellence, bringing
first-principles cost analysis and problem-solving capabilities to every aspect of
sourcing.
● Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials science, and tooling
technologies, enabling you to effectively collaborate with design and R&D teams to
develop products from concept to scale.
● Ability to thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, leading initiatives
that bridge procurement, engineering, design, and operations teams.
● Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to drive cost reductions without
compromising product integrity or timeline.
● Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to quickly pivot in response to changes in
supply chain conditions or product requirements.
● Knowledge of Indian taxation, cross-border regulations, and import/export laws is
a plus.
