Position Overview

We are looking for a disciplined and experienced General Manager – Dispatch Operations to lead dispatch operations for US-based trucking and Amazon Freight Partner (AFP) operations.

This is a leadership role for someone with strong knowledge of dispatch operations, driver management, safety compliance, escalation handling, and real-time trucking operations.

The ideal candidate must be capable of managing dispatch teams, coaching drivers, improving operational discipline, and ensuring smooth daily execution of logistics operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring ownership, accountability, operational control, and strong decision-making ability.

Key Responsibilities Dispatch Operations Management

  • Lead daily dispatch operations for US trucking and AFP operations
  • Monitor dispatch performance, driver utilization, route execution, and service reliability
  • Ensure proper dispatch coverage during shifts and critical operational windows
  • Build, improve, and enforce dispatch SOPs and operational processes
  • Ensure timely follow-up on trips, delays, driver issues, and escalations
  • Identify operational gaps and implement corrective actions
  • Improve communication quality and accountability within dispatch operations

2. Driver Management & Coaching

  • Coach drivers on operational discipline and communication standards
  • Counsel drivers regarding:
  • Safety behavior
  • Attendance
  • Route compliance
  • Dispatch responsiveness
  • Professional conduct
  • Handle escalations and difficult conversations professionally
  • Support driver retention through structured communication and issue resolution
  • Ensure drivers follow operational expectations and compliance standards

3. Safety & Compliance Oversight

  • Monitor driver safety events and recurring violations
  • Ensure dispatch teams follow escalation protocols
  • Review major incidents and severe violations
  • Support reduction of safety violations through coaching and accountability
  • Maintain proper documentation of incidents, coaching, and corrective actions
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture across operations

4. Dispatch Team Leadership

  • Train, mentor, and guide dispatchers and shift leads
  • Improve dispatcher productivity, ownership, and decision-making
  • Monitor communication quality and professionalism
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews
  • Ensure SOP and escalation compliance
  • Build a disciplined and proactive operational culture
  • Support hiring and training of dispatch team members when required

5. Operational Coordination

  • Coordinate with AFP owners, operations teams, drivers, and dispatchers
  • Handle and resolve:
  • Trip delays
  • Driver shortages
  • Attendance concerns
  • Equipment issues
  • Route execution problems
  • Safety-related escalations
  • Provide operational updates and reporting to management
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

Mandatory Requirements

  • Strong understanding of US trucking operations
  • Experience in dispatch management, fleet operations, or transportation operations
  • Ability to manage drivers and dispatch teams effectively
  • Strong communication and escalation-handling skills
  • Ability to work during US operational hours
  • Strong operational discipline and accountability mindset
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage real-time operational challenges
  • Knowledge of dispatch workflows, driver coordination, and trucking terminology
  • Strong documentation and follow-up skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Amazon Freight Partner (AFP) operations
  • Experience managing remote dispatch teams
  • Experience handling US-based drivers
  • Knowledge of driver safety monitoring and trucking compliance
  • Experience creating or improving SOPs and operational workflows
  • Leadership experience in logistics or transportation operations
