Role Purpose
The General Manager – Procurement will lead
end‑to‑end procurement and sourcing operations for the
Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Division, ensuring cost competitiveness, supply continuity, quality compliance, and strategic supplier partnerships. The role is critical to supporting
large‑scale energy storage projects and manufacturing operations through robust procurement governance and long‑term sourcing strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement Leadership
- Define and execute procurement strategy aligned with BESS business objectives, project timelines, and cost targets
- Lead global and domestic sourcing strategies for batteries, cells, modules, PCS, inverters, transformers, EMS, BOS items, and related systems
- Drive long‑term supplier development and localization initiatives
Supply Chain & Vendor Management
- Build and manage a strategic supplier ecosystem for BESS components
- Conduct supplier evaluations, negotiations, contract finalization, and performance reviews
- Mitigate supply chain risks, including single‑source dependencies and geopolitical constraints
Cost, Contracts & Commercials
- Own cost reduction, value engineering, and should‑costing initiatives
- Lead commercial negotiations, LTAs, rate contracts, and framework agreements
- Ensure contract compliance, payment terms optimization, and commercial risk control
Project & Manufacturing Support
- Work closely with engineering, projects, manufacturing, quality, and finance teams
- Ensure material availability aligned with project milestones and production plans
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and design‑to‑cost initiatives
Governance, Compliance & Processes
- Establish and strengthen procurement policies, SOPs, and controls
- Ensure compliance with statutory, ESG, quality, and safety standards
- Drive digital procurement systems, SAP/ERP integration, and reporting
Team Leadership
- Build, mentor, and lead a high‑performing procurement team
- Define KPIs, succession plans, and capability development programs
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Key Stakeholders
- Internal: Engineering, Projects, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, SCM, Leadership Team
- External: Strategic suppliers, OEMs, logistics partners, auditors, and consultants
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
- B.Tech / BE in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Electronics preferred)
- 20+ years of experience in procurement / sourcing / supply chain
- Strong exposure to BESS, renewable energy, power systems, batteries, or EPC/manufacturing environments
