Job Description

Role Objective:

A key objective of this role is to lead IT as a strategic business enabler, driving digital transformation, AI adoption, and integrated enterprise technology ecosystems across global pharma operations. The role will align IT with business growth, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and innovation.

This is not just an IT operations role; it is a business leadership role responsible for leveraging technology, data, and AI to create a competitive advantage.

Desired Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified B.E. or B.Tech. in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (Master's degree preferred) with a minimum of 15-20 years of experience.
  • 18–25 years of overall IT experience with 8–10 years in leadership roles.
  • Proven experience in heading IT for a mid-to-large pharma / life sciences / regulated manufacturing organization.
  • Strong exposure to global operations and multi-site IT management.
  • Demonstrated success in driving digital transformation initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing, quality, and regulatory environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of GxP, data integrity, and global regulatory compliance standards (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11, EU GMP)
  • Proven ability to drive system integration, API architecture, and digital ecosystems.
  • Ability to act as an AI Champion, identifying and implementing high-impact use cases.
  • Understanding of Industry 4.0 technologies in pharma/manufacturing.
  • Strong financial understanding of IT budgeting, cost optimization, and ROI-driven investments.
  • Experience in building and executing long-term IT & digital roadmaps.

Key Role & Responsibilities:

1. IT Strategy & Business Alignment

  • Define and execute a 3–5 year digital & IT strategy roadmap aligned with global business objectives
  • Act as a strategic partner to CMD & leadership team in enabling growth, scalability, and efficiency
  • Position IT as a value creator, not just a support function

2. Enterprise Applications & Digital Ecosystem

  • Oversee implementation, optimization, and integration of:
  • Enterprise resource planning systems
  • Customer engagement and sales platforms
  • Human capital management systems
  • Quality, laboratory, and manufacturing systems
  • Document and records management platforms
  • Ensure seamless system integration and data flow across functions

3. AI & Digital Innovation Leadership (NEW – Critical)

  • Act as the AI Champion for the organization
  • Identify and implement AI/ML use cases
  • Manufacturing (predictive maintenance, yield optimization)
  • Quality (deviation prediction, audit readiness)
  • Supply Chain (demand forecasting, inventory optimization)
  • Sales & Marketing (customer insights, personalization)
  • Drive adoption of:
  • GenAI (Copilots, automation, knowledge systems)
  • RPA / Hyperautomation
  • Advanced analytics & data platforms
  • Build an AI governance & ethics framework

4. Digital Transformation in Pharma Environment

  • Lead Industry 4.0 initiatives across plants
  • Ensure digital compliance with:
  • USFDA, MHRA, EU GMP, 21 CFR Part 11
  • Ensure data integrity, accessibility, and compliance
  • Enable real-time plant visibility & performance analytics

5. IT Infrastructure, Cloud & Cybersecurity

  • Lead development of secure, scalable, and resilient IT infrastructure
  • Drive adoption of cloud-based and hybrid technology environments
  • Strengthen cybersecurity posture, risk management, and business continuity planning

6. Data Strategy & Governance

  • Build enterprise-wide data architecture & governance framework
  • Establish single source of truth (data lake / warehouse)
  • Enable self-service BI & advanced analytics
  • Ensure data integrity, compliance, and audit readiness

7. Vendor & Partner Ecosystem Management

  • Manage global vendors across ERP, cloud, cybersecurity, and applications
  • Drive cost optimization and ROI-driven investments
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure SLA adherence

8. Global Operations Support

  • Oversee IT operations across multiple manufacturing sites and international locations
  • Ensure high system availability and performance
  • Support business expansion through scalable technology deployment

9. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Global Operations Support

  • Establish strong IT governance frameworks (ITIL, COBIT)

  • Pharma IT systems & compliance

  • Understanding of Industry 4.0 in pharma/manufacturing

Team Size to be Manage:

  • Reports to: Founder & President
  • Reportee: Manage the team of 5+ members with 1/2 direct reportees (Sr. Manager – Manager Level).
