Designation: General Manager - Engineering

Reporting to: VP Engineering Global Wheel

Direct Reports to this position: 10-15 Engineers

Activities/Duties/Responsibilities: (Please include Reports/Returns/documents maintained)

Lead and manage the daily operations of the Design Engineering team, including task planning, performance monitoring, and regular reviews.

Act as a primary connection point to the Technical Center Wheel, ensuring consistent deployment of Global Workflows, tools, and engineering practices for the India team. In this aspect, facilitate periodic updates and alignment sessions with the VP Global Engineering on project progress, risks, and alignment with priorities.

Plan and allocate work across team members in coordination with regional teams in Europe and North America, ensuring optimal utilization of available capacity.

Maintain, analyse, and report on key performance indicators for the department.

Ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of departmental data, systems, and documentation.

Mentor and coach engineers on best engineering practices, design calculations and design tool etc. Provide guidance on design guidelines, standards, norms followed by Norican group.

Lead the Competency management and Skill development of the engineers as per the business need.

Drive a culture of high-engagement, accountability, and technical excellence.

Foster strong collaboration between Indian Engineering team and global counterparts.

Qualification: Postgraduate / Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from reputed institute with good academic record.

Experience:

15–17 years of experience, including at least 7 years of hands-on experience in equipment design using SolidWorks, AutoCAD/DraftSight, and PDM.

Good experience working with international teams.

Experience in leading and managing a team of engineers

Around 3 to 5 years of experience in a Leadership role

Proven track record of working in R&D environment.

The position Interfaces with: Wheel Engineering Leadership, Project managers, NCCI leadership, DISA India, Group companies cross functional team & HR

General Competencies:

Excellent in presentation skills.
