Role Description

The Gemstone Assorter is a full-time, on-site role based in Jaipur. This role is responsible for examining, sorting, and categorizing gemstones according to size, color, clarity, cut, and overall quality standards set by Gems Paradise. The Gemstone Assorter will match stones to specific designs and production requirements, prepare assortments for artisans and setters, and ensure consistency across collections. Daily tasks include inspecting gemstones under magnification and proper lighting, maintaining accurate records of inventory and assortments, and collaborating with design and production teams to meet timelines and quality targets. The role also involves identifying any defects or irregularities, recommending suitable uses for each gemstone batch, and supporting continuous improvement in quality control processes.

Qualifications

  • Strong gemstone assessment skills, including visual inspection, grading of color and clarity, and understanding of cut and proportions.
  • Experience in sorting and matching gemstones for fine jewelry production, with attention to uniformity and design requirements.
  • Knowledge of precious and semi-precious stones, basic gemological concepts, and familiarity with traditional and contemporary jewelry styles.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and manual dexterity for handling small gemstones safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain organized records of assortments, inventory counts, and production-related documentation.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with designers, master artisans, and production managers.
  • Prior experience in a jewelry manufacturing or gemstone trading environment is preferred.
  • Relevant training or certification in gemology or jewelry manufacturing is an advantage.
  • Commitment to quality, integrity, and maintaining high standards aligned with the brand's craftsmanship and heritage.
