GCP DevOps Engineer

This role is for a developer who thrives at the intersection ofsoftware development, cloud automation, andcyber security.You'll use your deep programming and engineering knowledge to create reusable, declarative tools and design patterns that make cloud services easy for other teams to consume. You'll work closely with our CloudService teams/ cross-functional teams to build scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that power Ford's business.

• Design and build modular IaC (Infrastructure as Code) solutionswith a focus on consumable, repeatable architectures within the GCP cloud.

• Develop custom tools and automation solutionsto streamline operations and empower product and engineering teams to self-serve.

• Drive technical standardsand best practices for our evolving cloud environments by partnering with your peers in engineering and operations.

• Automate everything.You'll use modern tools likeTerraform, Google Cloud Run/ Build, Tekton, and Github Actionsto eliminate manual tasks (click-ops) and ensure consistency.

• Collaborate across teams.You'll work closely with engineers, product managers, and internal stakeholders to articulate technical solutions and shape the future of our cloud offerings.

• Participate in an on-call rotationto provide support for production environment outages and critical issues. On-call support is typically low-volume and focused on major incidents.

You'll have

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

• 7+ years of experiencein software engineering or a related developer role.

• 2+ years of experiencedelivering solutions onGoogle Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Proficiency in a modern programming language likePython, Go, or Node.js, with the ability to write clean, maintainable code.

• Advanced expertise withTerraform, including creating custom modules.

• Strong understanding ofcontainer-based solutions(e.g., Tekton, Kubernetes, serverless) and version control usingGit.

• Experience with development and support tools likeJira and ServiceNow.

• Acurious, self-starting mindsetwith the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, autonomous environment.

• The collaborative skills to work effectively within a team and navigate complex technical decisions.
