Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced GCP Data Platform Architect to lead the design, strategy, and governance of enterprise-scale data platforms on Google Cloud.
This role will define the target-state architecture for analytics, data governance, and lakehouse environments, leveraging BigQuery, Dataplex, and broader GCP ecosystem services.
The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in data architecture, governance, security, and cloud modernization, along with the ability to drive enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Strategy
- Define and implement enterprise-wide GCP data platform architecture
- Establish reference architectures, best practices, and governance standards
- Design scalable lakehouse and modern data warehouse architectures
- Lead cloud migration and modernization strategies
- Evaluate and recommend emerging GCP data technologies
BigQuery Architecture & Optimization
- Architect high-performance BigQuery environments
- Define partitioning, clustering, and storage strategies
- Design multi-project and multi-region architectures
- Establish cost governance and query optimization frameworks
- Implement disaster recovery and business continuity strategies
Dataplex & Data Governance
- Architect governance frameworks using Dataplex
- Design:
- Data lakes, zones, and assets
- Metadata, lineage, and classification strategies
- Data quality and stewardship frameworks
- Implement row-level and column-level security controls
- Integrate governance with IAM, DLP, and compliance frameworks
Security & Compliance
- Design secure-by-design data platforms (Zero Trust principles)
- Implement IAM architecture across projects, folders, and orgs
- Define encryption, audit logging, and monitoring strategies
- Ensure alignment with regulatory and enterprise compliance standards
Stakeholder & Leadership
- Collaborate with security, data, and business teams
- Provide architectural leadership and governance direction
- Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
Required Skills (Mandatory)
- Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Strong experience with BigQuery architecture and optimization
- Hands-on experience with Dataplex (data governance)
- Strong knowledge of data lakehouse and data warehouse architectures
- Experience in enterprise data governance and metadata management
- Strong understanding of IAM, security, and compliance frameworks
- Experience in multi-region, multi-project cloud architecture
- Expertise in performance optimization and cost governance
