GCP Data Platform Architect (BigQuery & Dataplex)
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced GCP Data Platform Architect to lead the strategy, architecture, and governance of enterprise-scale data platforms on Google Cloud. This role will define the target-state architecture for analytics, data governance, and lakehouse environments leveraging BigQuery, Dataplex, and broader GCP data services.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Strategy
- Define and implement enterprise-wide GCP data platform architecture centered on BigQuery and Dataplex.
- Establish reference architectures, best practices, and governance standards.
- Design scalable lakehouse and modern data warehouse architectures.
- Lead cloud modernization and migration strategies to GCP.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging GCP services and data technologies.
BigQuery Architecture & Optimization
- Architect high-performance, enterprise-scale BigQuery environments.
- Define partitioning, clustering, storage, and workload management strategies.
- Implement multi-project, multi-region data architectures.
- Establish cost governance models and query optimization standards.
- Design disaster recovery and business continuity frameworks.
Dataplex & Data Governance Architecture
- Architect enterprise data governance frameworks using Dataplex:
- Lakes, zones, and assets design
- Data classification and tagging strategies
- Metadata management and lineage
- Policy enforcement models
- Design fine-grained access controls (row-level, column-level security).
- Integrate governance with IAM, DLP, and enterprise compliance requirements.
- Define data quality and stewardship frameworks.
Security & Compliance
- Architect secure-by-design data platforms aligned with zero-trust principles.
- Implement IAM architecture across projects, folders, and organizations.
- Define encryption, audit logging, monitoring, and regulatory compliance controls.
