This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a GCP Data Engineer - Senior Consultant in India.
This role sits at the core of designing and delivering scalable, cloud-based data ecosystems on Google Cloud Platform for enterprise clients. You will be responsible for building end-to-end data solutions that support analytics, business intelligence, and advanced data processing use cases. The position involves close collaboration with clients and cross-functional teams to understand requirements, design robust data architectures, and implement high-performance data pipelines. You will work on large-scale data modeling, optimization, and troubleshooting across distributed cloud environments. The role also emphasizes continuous improvement of data platforms, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and reliability. In addition, you will mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical leadership within global delivery teams.
Accountabilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and end-to-end data ecosystems on Google Cloud Platform.
- Develop and optimize data architectures using services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Functions.
- Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements in close collaboration with clients and stakeholders.
- Implement ETL/ELT processes to integrate and transform data from multiple sources including databases, APIs, and streaming systems.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval using techniques such as partitioning, indexing, compression, and query tuning.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot complex data issues, and perform root cause analysis to ensure system reliability.
- Mentor and support junior data engineers while contributing to best practices and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 9+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, including at least 6+ years working on Google Cloud Platform.
- Strong expertise in GCP services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, and related data tools.
- Hands-on experience designing and deploying scalable data pipelines and data integration solutions.
- Advanced SQL and strong Python/scripting skills for data processing and automation.
- Deep knowledge of data modeling, database design, and performance optimization techniques.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow (mandatory).
- Familiarity with modern data transformation tools such as DBT or Dataform.
- Strong understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks and distributed data systems.
- Experience with version control and collaboration tools such as Git, Jira, and Confluence.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience working in global, distributed, and client-facing environments.
- Exposure to tools such as Spark, Databricks, or BI platforms is a plus.
