Gate Cutting Supervisor Job Description
Position: Gate Cutting Supervisor
Department: Gate Cutting
Reports To: Production Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily gate cutting and fettling operations.
- Allocate work to gate cutting operators and helpers.
- Ensure correct gate, runner and riser cutting as per drawing.
- Monitor grinding, chipping and cutting tools.
- Maintain daily production, rejection and rework records.
- Coordinate with Quality and Dispatch departments.
- Ensure housekeeping, discipline and safety in fettling shop.
- Support trial parts and new product fettling development.
Quality & Safety
- Ensure castings meet surface finish and dimensional standards.
- Enforce PPE usage, grinder safety and cutting area safety procedures.
- Conduct safety toolbox talks and training for workers.
Cost & Efficiency
- Control grinding wheel, power and consumable usage.
- Reduce rejection, rework and over-grinding losses.
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of fettling and gate cutting operations.
- Understanding of casting drawings and gate locations.
- Manpower handling and supervision skills.
- Basic production reporting and documentation.
- Problem solving and communication skills.
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma / ITI / Foundry related qualification.
- 0 to 2 years experience in foundry gate cutting / fettling operations or supervision.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary Range: 19,000 to 22,000 per month (Based on experience & skill)
