Garments Quality Controller (QC) ensures apparel meets buyer specifications and quality standards, spanning from raw materials to final packaging. Key responsibilities include conducting inline, end-line, and final inspections, managing Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) standards, identifying defects, and implementing corrective actions. They reduce repair rates, train operators, and maintain accurate inspection reports.
Core Responsibilities of a Garments Quality Controller:Inspections & Audits: Conducts regular in-line inspections on sewing floors and end-of-line inspections in the finishing department.Final Inspection: Performs final, detailed inspections of finished garments before shipment to ensure compliance with buyer specifications (e.g., measurements, workmanship, colorfastness, packing quality).Measurement Inspection: Validates garment measurements against size specs to ensure consistency.Quality Standard Adherence: Strictly maintains Buyer Quality Standards (BQS) and ensures conformity with industry standards.Defect Management: Identifies, logs, and analyzes defects (e.g., broken stitches, fabric defects) to determine the root cause, such as analyzing data to reduce repair rates.In-Process Improvement: Collaborates with production teams to solve technical bottlenecks and improve manufacturing techniques.Reporting & Documentation: Prepares detailed daily quality reports, including defect analysis and improvement plans.Training & Mentoring: Guides sewing operators on proper sewing techniques and trains new staff on quality requirements.Testing & Compliance: Conducts on-site tests such as button pull tests, needle damage checks, and barcode scans. Specific Roles in Different Departments:Fabric QC: Inspects raw materials for quality before cutting.Sewing QC (Inline/Endline): Monitors sewing quality during production to minimize repairs.Finishing QC: Audits final packaging, labeling, and cleanliness before packing.
