Role Description

Directorate of Estates - Grounds Maintenance

We currently have two roles available. These roles are part of the Grounds Maintenance Team within the Directorate of Estates. The team complete activities associated with all aspects of grounds maintenance and sports fields works.

About The Role

In these roles, you will cover all aspects of grounds maintenance and sports fields work. You will be required to use various equipment such as tractors, ride-on and pedestrian grass cutting machinery, powered hand tools such as brush-cutters and hedge trimmers. You will also carry out the application of chemicals such as pesticides and fertilisers.

During bad weather you will be required to attend work earlier for snow clearing and gritting.

The University has a large and diverse campus which is a Registered Park and Garden, giving our grounds the same designation as some of Britain's finest estates. As part of our team, you will contribute to maintaining this status and our Green Flag Award which has been awarded to us for the past eight years concurrently.

Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed

  • National Proficiency Test Certificates PA1 and PA6a
  • Full driving licence
  • Competent in the use of ride-on mowers as well as pedestrian equipment
  • Proficiency in the use of tractors and tractor mounted implements.
  • Familiarity with general aspects of grounds and sports fields maintenance and soft landscaping
  • Ability to work as a team member or individually using own initiative
