Job Title:Production Manager Upholstery & Polish (High-End Furniture)
Location:Sankrail Industrial Park, Dhulagarh
Reports To:Factory Head / Department Head
Role Overview
The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end production of high-end furniture in the upholstery and polishing departments. The role demands a strong eye for detail, deep understanding of premium finishes, and the ability to manage skilled labor while ensuring superior craftsmanship, timely delivery, and minimal rework.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Plan and manage daily and weekly production schedules for upholstery and polishing units
- Ensure timely completion of production targets without compromising on quality
- Coordinate with carpentry, assembly, and finishing teams for smooth workflow
- Monitor job progress and address bottlenecks proactively
2. Upholstery Management
- Oversee all upholstery work including fabric/leather cutting, stitching, and finishing
- Ensure precision in tailoring, fitting, and alignment for high-end furniture pieces
- Work closely with design and sampling teams to execute custom requirements
- Maintain consistency in comfort, finish, and detailing
3. Polish & Finishing Oversight
- Manage polishing processes including staining, PU, melamine, veneer polishing, and special finishes
- Ensure surface preparation, color matching, and finish quality meet premium standards
- Monitor drying times, coating thickness, and finishing techniques
- Develop and maintain finishing samples and standards for reference
4. Quality Control
- Implement strict quality checks at each stage of upholstery and polishing
- Minimize defects, rework, and customer complaints
- Ensure all finished products meet high-end aesthetic and durability standards
- Collaborate with QC team for inspections and approvals
5. Team Management
- Supervise and manage skilled workers including upholsterers, tailors, polishers, and helpers
- Train and guide teams on best practices and quality standards
- Allocate tasks efficiently based on skill levels and workload
- Maintain discipline, productivity, and morale on the shop floor
6. Material & Inventory Coordination
- Coordinate with procurement for timely availability of fabrics, foam, leather, veneers, and chemicals
- Monitor material consumption and reduce wastage
- Ensure proper storage and handling of sensitive materials
7. Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce turnaround time, and enhance quality
- Implement SOPs and standardization across processes
- Introduce new techniques, finishes, and tools for better output
8. Stakeholder Coordination & Follow-Ups
- Regularly follow up with internal teams (design, procurement, production, QC) to ensure smooth execution
- Coordinate with vendors for outsourced processes if required
- Track project timelines and ensure commitments are met

Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma/Degree in Furniture Design, Production, Wood Technology, or related field
- 510 years of experience in high-end furniture manufacturing
- Proven experience in managing upholstery and polishing departments

Additional Notes
- Experience in luxury/custom furniture is highly preferred
