This internship is designed for someone studying furniture design, product design, or a related discipline who wants real studio experience. You'll work alongside our designers on live projects — both for client brands and our own collection — learning how ideas move from sketch to specification to production.
We're looking for someone curious, detail-oriented, and genuinely passionate about furniture and making. You don't need to know everything yet — but you do need to be eager to learn and willing to roll up your sleeves.
What You'll Be DoingDesign & Modelling
– Assist with 3D modelling in Rhino — building, refining, and iterating on furniture forms
– Support the preparation of drawings and design presentations for internal review and client meetings
– Help explore and visualise design options through sketching, physical models, or digital renders
– Research materials, finishes, hardware, and manufacturing techniques to feed into live projects
Technical Support
– Assist in preparing Rhino drawings — learning to produce clean, accurate, dimensioned documentation
– Support the team in organising and maintaining drawing files, project folders, and specification documents
– Help compile technical packs and sample boards for client and factory review
Studio Day-to-Day
– Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and studio critiques
– Assist with prototyping, material sourcing, and workshop activities as needed
– Contribute to the general organisation and smooth running of the studio
What We're Looking ForSkills & Software
– Working knowledge of Rhino 3D — able to model basic to intermediate geometry
– Familiarity with AutoCAD or willingness to learn quickly
– Sketching ability — hand drawing is a valued part of our design process
– Basic Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign or Photoshop) is a plus
Qualities
– Genuine interest in furniture, materials, and how things are made
– Attention to detail — you care about getting things right
– Proactive and willing to take initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do
– Good communicator — able to ask the right questions and listen well
– Comfortable in a small studio environment where the work is real and the feedback is direct
Background
– Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree in Furniture Design, Product Design, Interior Design, or Architecture
– A portfolio demonstrating design thinking, 3D work, and an interest in furniture or objects — even if early-stage
What You'll Gain– Hands-on experience across the full furniture design process — from concept to production documentation
– Direct mentorship from senior designers in a working studio environment
– Exposure to real client projects and an understanding of how design consultancy operates
– Working knowledge of industry-standard tools and workflows
– A deeper understanding of furniture manufacturing and what it takes to bring a design to market
– Strong portfolio material from live project involvement
